the belts are TOO stiff/tight. the OE belts are MORE than strong enough for any setup...and they have the right amount of "give" in them to keep from this stuff happening

and most of the ppl you see kill belts, have them WAY too tight

sorry to hear that man. even tensioned properly, i just dont trust the OEM belts for Toda B cams.

i just dont think anyone with stock cams can say OEM is the best for big cams.
Although a couple ppl here posted that they use an OEM belt for their big cams.

This is the first time ive seen a tooth sheered off of a PE belt.

Ive been running the Toda belt and it flaps, thats how its supposed to be tensioned.

how many miles on the belt?

how tight was it tensioned and how long ago?

when was your last valve lash adjustment?

do you run an uncut valve cover?

i would say as long as you turn the crank counterclockwise about 1 tooth and just before the exhaust cam gear moves, you should be alright. that way on cold starts the belt will flap with even tension between the cam pullies and under the exhaust cam gear.

but things do go wrong for certain ppl sometimes

you can use an OEM belt, but i personally would use PE or toda. If your not sure on the tension, take to someone who has ran both belts with big cams.

i guarantee i run my belt tighter than 99.9% of these guys on this board and beyond. my belts have never failed and as i said in my earlier post its an OEM belt. i would never even think about goin with PE or TODA. both are junk.
ive seen OEM break, but i see these guys with built motors that run PE or TODA and seen them loose a 5K+ motor because of those belts.
seems as though the belts loose teeth as in this case or ive seen them just start to crack at the teeth which is just a matter of time b4 it looses that tooth. once again OEM PE/TODA junk junk junk

belt has about 40KM or 25Miles. it is no older then two years old with some track abuse.
car ran with cut valve cover
the overall condition of the motor is pretty
compression is 250 even all across
plugs show good burn
passed goverment emissions testings with stock cat

i'm a little undecided on what to do now.
toda's seem to have a statistically higher chance of demolising belts.
i'm thinking of going to something with a more mild primaries like jun 3's

I have always used OEM belts on all of my motors. With ITR, CTR, Skunk2, and RLZ cams, I have never encountered any problems. Just keep proper tension on the belt and dont use an old *** belt.
