Default b18c GSR Question.

Hey! I know i been talking alot about turboing my gsr but i'm having second thoughts. There's nothing wrong with having the gsr not turbo is there? I mean ****, the gsr alone is very powerful. And i'm enjoying driving my crx more and more every day. I can't help to see her ( crx ) be all dirty and **** trying to put in a turbo onto her. I been pushing her hard. At any complete stop, I take off on every damn car there is. I stay on first gear until it's about to red line. then i switch to 2nd gear. it red lines at 7.5k rpm. I know if u redline it 24/7 that it the motor will explode. But since it has 26,872 mileage only. Will pushing it to 7.2K RPM every time mess up the motor? As long as i dont red line it right? And is there any concerns that i should be worry about? Like does it effect any other parts? Your clutches? Flywheels? etc. . ?

Its not gonna be long before your rings are shot if you keep beating on the motor..

If I had a gsr crx I would treat the motor like a puppy and only race every now and again at the track.

Just wondering why you are saying it redlines at 7500 RPM's?

I know my stock DX gauge redlines at 6500 and the tach bottoms out at 8000 RPM. But with my GSR setup my VTEC x-over is 5500 RPMs and redline is at 9000 RPM. Since my tach stops at 8000, I have to guesstimate when to shift into the next gear so I dont overrev the engine.

it redlines at 7.5k cause that's what it shows. I have a vtec controller and it's tune to 5.5k to where the vtec kicks in. I need it for freeway driving. Same thing as your

Oh puleease.. Here comes the pity parade If you want help with turbocharging your GSR motor, check the FORCED INDUCTION FORUM. If you want help pertaining to CRX items, use this forum. Check the search feature. There is no limit, but posting almost identical threads seems to be a waste. I appologize for coming off so harsh.. But I still stick by what I said, no need for this thread in this forum. - Darrell

That's what it shows one your stock CRX tach? you haven't tried to take it higher then that? All I can say is, if you decide to take it up to 8000 where the tach bottoms out, make sure you have some spare 10A, 15A and 20A fuses in the car. When I first started raggin on my car I kept blowing the Alt Solenoid fuse so the car would die while I was driving it. I think it only did that though because I've got a short somewhere. hehehe

Anyways, since you are not going turbo have you thought about going N/A? it's pretty easy to do and you could do all your own work and a lot of parts can be installed in a few hours. Right now your GSR is prety stock, but you can mod it so that you are putting down slightly better numbers then a stock ITR motor.

If you wanna go NA try looking at maybe doing some intake, header, cams & cam gears, intake manifold, and a new ECU. I think you have an OBD 2 B18C (96+ years), so I dont know what you would do for an ECU. If you had a 94-95 B18C I would suggest getting a preburned ECU, but I dont think it's that easy for you because of the OBD 2.

1. your rev limiter is at 8200 if you have a stock ecu, which i assume you do
2. gsrs are meant to rev (like the b16), ryan drives in 8000s all day with his new springs, his engine's just flippin fine
-> obviously youll have more tensile load on your rods but they're not gonna snap until many many more miles, you're fine
3. gsr = good enough, I agree, although i'm hooking up a homemade turbo setup for mine cause i'm 16 and i'll take advantage of my ability to leech money while i can
4. turbo + driving in high revs all the time = where you'll run into bigger issues.
