Default studders

my car studders after i shift when i hit the gas. i'm going down the highway about 55 and shift and it shutters and then picks up.??????

could it be the fuel pump? or injectors? this problem is not all the time and it does not happen in first gear yet but all of the other gears but does not happen all the time either?

well try some injector cleaner if that is what you think is the problem, or i would try a new filter. but bump for anyone else's opinion

Could be any of those things... could also be the 02 sensor... I'd try unplugging the o2 sensor on a day where it's happening more often (or does it happen all the time?)... if it goes away then the o2 is bad... otherwise it could be a lot of things...

What kind of shuttering is it... does it feel like it's running out of gas? or like the suspension is F'd up? or what...

Give some more detail and try unpluging the o2.

If it goes away quicker when you push the gas pedal to the floor it's almost definately your O2 sensor... my car does that now from time to time.

The o2 is sending an incorrect signal and when you floor it the car fuels the engine according to fuel maps not O2 sensor readings...

You can unplug the o2 sensor and run you car indefinately w/o any harm... it will not run as smooth during transitions (gear to gear) but it's hardly even noticable...

I would try disconnecting the o2 wire harness at the front of the engine and seeing if it goes away... if so it's the o2 sensor.

Would a CEL come up? If so, would it go away?

Mine sputters from 3,500-4,500 RPM and then goes away. My gas mileage has gone to **** and idle is a bit low. I do think it's my O2 sensor.

I might try this...

A cel will come up while the o2 is unplugged and the car is on.. it will clear once you plug it back in and restart the car... (don't know if I mentioned this but you just unplug the o2 wire harness to the left of the header.).

My gas milage never varies at all and it still sputters in certain scenarios... mainly when I'm just driving normal... it starts to sputter like it's running out of gas... if I floor the gas it chugs and clears up... if I unplug the o2 harness it stops doing this altoghether...

It's worth a shot and it does no harm... I ran my car for months without the o2 sensor connected.

If you try it and the car does still do it then it's a quick answer that that is not your problem...

Just try different things and see if it helps or not... IE when it happens...

1st. floor the gas... if it clears up it's probobly the o2 or tps

The next time it happens try putting in the clutch... does it go away? etc... just try different things that should eventually isolate what's wrong or at least eliminate a bunch of possiblities.
