High flo Cat
a normal catalytic converter, if clean, dosent hinder flow that much. BUT if you upgrade the exhaust to a larger size its a very good investment to get a larger diameter high flow cat.

It all depends on what you're running on the exhaust path. If it's matched to the same size as your exhaust it's a great way to help the exhaust flow.
Make sure you only do this on 95 and older cars as they aren't OBDII legal.

Also keep in mind that almost all if not all aftermarket cats are made of cheaper materials and have a tendency to go bad...
Buy from a reputable company (catco, dynomax, etc) and MAKE SURE YOU FILL OUT THE WARRANTY CARD...
My hiflo cat went bad in just under a year and I never filled out the warranty car out... so no replacement for me...
I was even warned by a mechanic I know before it went... he was like... no way it makes it more than a year... apparently stock cats are VERY expensive to produce because they use the more expensive of two optional materials (I can't remember what they're made of) where as the aftermarket ones almost always use the cheaper material that doesn't last as long.
