ok my girls car has a bad cat and she has a 98lx. this is the system in which the manifold and cat are one piece. a replacment is 600 bucks. can i jsut put a full ex exhuast system on there. i get everything for around 100 bucks locally. including new mani, cat and full exhaust. all i would have to do is extend the o2 sensor wires, which is no prob. so the question is can this be done without messing anything up. in the ecu ect..

Yup, as long as you replace everything from the exhaust manifold-back, you'll be fine.

 

do i have to switch the ecu, or will that be ok, cuase right now im throwing a code, and i need to pass emissions. and the prob has to be that cat

I'm not sure about Ohio, but in CA you can't move the cat from its original location

No, just as long as you hook up both 02 sensors.
