Help me upgrade my brakes. Prelude?
This is one of those cases were i searched so much i just got lost, so many people said such distant opinions over all of the threads i have no idea who to belive.
So, im tired of my stock brakes, i want to go better, but stay OEM. I read about h22a prelude brakes, since they are a bit larger and the prelude is considerably heavier they were my first choice in order to see a true improvement. Im runing 15" wheels so fitment would be fine.
Now, to the question, what should i do, what would i need? How the hell do i deal with the fact that the prelude is 5 lug
?
Im lost

as with any other brake swap, you will need the hub assembly, upgraded axels(recommended), rotors, calipers, pads, new wheels to accomodate the 5 lug upgrade, possible bigger booster(not sure)

Cant do that, i dont have the money for new wheels now.
Also i found that early model preludes are 4 lug but need to be redriled to 100 x 4.

Also, my civic here came with 4 wheel disks, guessing the same as Si's in the US. Do they have 11" rotors? or only GSR´s?

i think he meant that they can be redrilled to that. and i believe the nsx was the one that had the 11" rotors?? could be wrong

I understood the VTEC prelude had 11" rotors.
This seems rather complicated in order to just get something a bit better than teg brakes
? Anyone have any idea what to do about MC and proportioning valve?

Honestly, just upgrade to the Integra brakes. The 4x14.3 setup is a waste of time and effort. I have one and it's no better than Teg brakes. You WON'T get anything extra out of those brakes on the streets.
the ealy Prelude VTEC models had 4x114.3 brakes, which allow you to redrill safely a new 4x100 in between the stock lug holes, and the rotors can be picked up from Napa for 23 bucks a piece, plus they are hubcentric to you Teg/ABS knuckles, which you must use to be able to use the Prelude VTEC/ITR/CR-V/NSX/Legend/Accord wagon calipers, all of which will work with said rotors. Depending on the calipers and wheels, you may need to use a variety of wheel spacers also
Thanx for the help everyone, i think im going to go with the GSR swap since it is far less costly and complicated, and acording to some on the streets i wont see much better results than with prelude brakes.
your brakes are limited buy your tires, and since you said nothing about track driving, upgrading to a bigger brake would be a waste of money.
on the street you just need your brakes to be able to lock up. get some cheap rotors and decent pads and you will be set
