Default ******PRELUDE BRAKES******

will prelude calipers bolt on my ek with a GSR brake conversion? I know I have to redrill the rotors but will the rear preludes fit on my cars and how much bigger are they?

No the Prelude has a different caliper mount pattern...The front rotors will fit with ITR/CR-V calipers and a little messaging of the brackets...

again, where is this misleading information coming from??????????????????????????????????????/

I personally have Prelude calipers MOUNTED on my GSR spindles...bolt on affair. The only difference is the offset of the caliper. You WILL NEED a 3-5mm spacer between the rotor and hub OR shave 3-5mm of materiel off the caliper mounting location to center the offset of the pad between the calipers.

ITR or Prelude rotors redrilled to 4x100 will work perfect!

Don't believe me?????

No, you guys are my heros

for comparison....

my stock 94 Si non ABS assembly compared to GSR hubs with H&R extended lugs, ITR rotors redrilled to 4x100 and Prelude VTEC calipers...make sure they're the VTEC calipers...not base model

i have a set of prelude calipers that have been machined to fit in between a redrilled prelude 11 inch rotor.

i ran these last summer on some integra front hubs.

you have to machine about 3/16th of an inch off the inside of the area where it mounts to the hub. so that the caliper will fit in between the rotor and the hub.

no, it's so the rotor sits between the brake pads.

If not, the the inside part of the caliper will come into contact with the rotor before it is pressed against the hub

OK... I'm bumping this cuz I'm wondering about a couple of things...

A. I read in another thread you (Emerika) had problems using the ITR rotors redrilled to 4x100 because they have a larger hub hole than the stock hub (causing vibration at high speeds (like wheels without hubcentric rings))... however the Prelude VTEC rotors have the SAME hub size... Is this correct?
B. You haven't done anything with the rears have you?

I know fastbrakes makes a kit that upgrades the rears to 11.0" rotors... but I'm not sure what it does with the calipers. if it just moves the stock ones or if it upgrades them to larger sized ones...

Just from looking I think the rear Prelude VTEC calipers are just as small (identical) to the teg/civic rear calipers...

I'd like something larger... the car stops like hell already... but I wouldn't mind it improving...

does anyone have a pic of where it needs to be machined................. I am also interested in a REAR upgrade

Instead of redrilling the rotors to 4x100, would the early VW Corrado rotors work?

I read somewhere on here that they were the same lug pattern as the civic (4x100) and disk diameter as the Prelude/ITR rotors...

But I never heard about their offset... IE how much spacing would need to be done to the rotor to get it to center in the caliper...

I may just order a set from my buddies work and see what it looks like.

If I do I'll update my Prelude brake thread with that info there...

Wait wait wait. I have a question. I have Spoon brake calipers in my basement right now and I was waiting on getting a 5 lug conversion. Instead of doing that could I use the Prelude VTEC or 4 lug ITR rotors, get them redrilled, and use them with the Spoon calipers on my EM1 hubs and knuckle? IF so I will definately go that route instead of spending a grand on a 5 lug conversion.

Does upgrading to the Prelude calipers have an affect on pedal feel?

assuming you have the mounting braket yes. but the stock 114.3 ITR rotor ARE NOT the same size as the prelude vtec and 5 lug ITR brakes.

well you simply can't slap prelude vtec calipers on a rotor that is not 11.1 inchs. but if you upgrade to 11.1 inch rotor's and calipers for that size yes it will work.

and FYI 94 accord v6, 92 prelude vtec, 98+ ITR calipers are all the same, rotors are the same specs to (as far as the clamping area goes). there is also a early (1991) nsx dual piston caliper that fits ont he 11.1" inch honda rotor. and and legend rotor also. if you guys would search around i have posted tons of inof like this befor

All right, then what rotors would you suggest I get to use the Spoon calipers? Also, do you mean the ITR caliper mounting bracket?
