No it should not slip anywhere. Your probaly just bugging out, thinking your wheels peeling out is your clutch slipping. If your clutch really is slipping i.e. your RPM's skyrockting and your not going anywhere than yes your clutch is slipping. If that is the case and it's only happinging in first it's only going to get worse and worse. Have it check out asap....

you can smell the clutch afterwards. the car has under 50000 miles on it so i'm kind of concerned. what would someone check for if they were looking at the clutch? the rpms don't shoot up, the engine just kind of bogs and doesn't move.

This happened when I bought an 89' SI. It had 156 thousand miles, and it needed a new clutch, you could smell that thing , it smells bad. While I was on the way over to my friends to put a new clutch in it which I got at like discount autoparts, I blew the engine after the clutch went out on 9A highway. I went down the exit ramp at like 7,000 rpm in fifth, going about 5 miles an hour, waving for others to go around, then my engine exploded, lol. Dont let it happen to you!

neways...

get on the highway and punch it in fifth gear at 40 mph.

if the revs climb and the tach doesn't you're in trouble.

Your bugging out man your smelling your tires. If your RPMS aren't climbing and your speedometer doesn't than I don't think your clutch is slipping. You'll know when it is.

Well, I got my clutch at Advance Auto Parts, full retail was only like 230.00, surely cheaper on eBay, but puting it in youre self is not hard. I mean it was a project, but we also had a whole set of MAC pneumatic tools. And three people, but still, and if you punch it in 5th going 40 and so dont speed up, you do need a new one! b4 it goes out on you.

Oh yeah, we just used the honda prelude 3rd generation manual thing that I found in my trunk when I bought the car to figure out how to do the clutch.

Also, if you want to keep up with driving fast and burning out and all, you should consider a performance clutch, which they sell everywhere.

Absolutely.

they get real heavy holding it there while it gets screwed on, weighing at least 70 pounds, and we had fast air tools.

you can test it anywhere.....just put it in 5th going like 3 and floor it, if rpms jump then youre toast....

also, if when you shift the rpms come down like its an automatic.....basically you should be able to tell, if the rpms are moving and they arent accelerating the car like they should be....
