If your owner's manual calls for platinum plugs, go with platinum plugs. Higher powered ignition systems will erode the electrode and over time, the gap will grow until the spark isn't able to make the jump properly causing you to foul our your plugs. Basically, if your car requires plat and you use copper, they should foul out within 10,000 miles. If your car doesn't require platinums, any power gains you feel with be in your head.
