Default How is idle when using aftermarket cams on a street car?

Just wondering how most people make out with aftermaket cams on daily driven cars? I have Skunk II Stage II cams where i need to keep on the gas for aboout a minute before i start driving around. Is that faily normal for aftermarket cams, or should i do more tuning?

Do other brands have the same affect. I read a lot about dyno's and performance numbers, but how do stack up on your daily driver?

It sounds as if you need better/more extensive tuning.

The Skunk 2's should idle like stock. Mine did. Toda cams are a bit more finicky, but can be made to idle well.

skunk2 stage 2 should idle like stock.
when i first put them in it was very hard to idle. setting the timing back to stock helped alot.
after tuning they idle great alittle lopy but idles like stock in terms of smoothness

For the guys with S2S2's, how much cam timing adjustment were you able to do and still keep a good idle?

on my car if i advance the intake +2. it would stall out ocassionally. its best to leave it at 0 and take it to the dyno to see.
on my motor i made the most power out of them at 0 setting.
tuning is the key to making them idle nice

your probably just running real rich at idle. if you have a vafc, it would just lean it out til the idle stops fluctuating at normal operation temperature and adjust the throttle body screw to idle at about 750 rpms. that could be the case like usual.

i have Toda Bs and purrs like a kitten.

How about the crower 403's or 404 LS cams? I know the 403's will idle near stock but just curious on how the idle will be on the 404's. I want the most out of my b20b but dont want sacrafice the healthy idle. Please dont flame me for sporting a non-vtec b-series.
