Default Buying new Transmission >/< Rebuilding Current Transmission

Ok my transmission on my h22 is grinding in gears especially at high RPM, mostly 2nd-3rd.

I got this transmission when i did my f-series to H22 swap (usdm) the transmission i had for years before it was abused and grinded. The transmission that came with my h22 was driven carefully on. It had its track moments which I am sure put stress on it but I honestly was surprised to see it start grinding with such little miles.

So I am thinking of
1. Buying a used transmission and risk that it was not babied before i got it.
2. Rebuild my current transmission.
3. The ultimate but maybe over budget. A Type S transmission with LSD.

What do you think the cost of these options would be and pros/cons.

The only other issue I am thinking of is the linkage I currently have is from my f22. Even though pretty much everything is the same could there been something wrong to cause this tranny and maybe the other tranny to grind.

Foot Notes. Transmission grinds. I want to have it shift smooth. Should I buy a used trans an risk problems, or rebuild my current transmission?

Thanks in advance for the help

OH FYI: I would be removing and installing the transmission my self. The cost of rebuild would just be the internal work....

isnt the quaife around $800.00 plus the cost of the used trans., how is that cost effective.

I could buy a type S tranny for that if I am not mistaken.

the Type S tranny has ATTS which you wont be able to use and is an added 78 lbs (give or take a few). So throw that idea out the window. Even if you had the atts block you would need the stock SH and ATTS computers to actually make it work.Even then there is no guarantee it would work. Basically a waste of time and money.

best bet would probably be to rebuild your current tranny and add the quaife. Yes it is 800 dollars, but you get what you pay for. Good quality part that's under lifetime warranty and performs well.

wasn't aware of the atts on the type s trans
I understand the benefits of the quaife, ran it on my b16 and it was well worth the money. Just not in the budget for this car right now.

Just right now i need to focus on just getting the transmission shifting properly.
What have others paid to have there tranny rebuilt minus the removal and install costs.

not exactly sure. Are you going to be replacing ALL of the synchros or just the 2nd and 3rd that are grinding? Not sure how much synchro sets are, probably a pretty good amount from the stealership. Also, you really need to find someone who knows what they are doing when it comes to honda transmissions. we ripped apart a b series to get the LSD diff out of it, and ohhh man. We had clips and **** flying all over the place. Glad it was already dead and we didnt have to put it back together.
