What wrong with my tranny? Shifting funny
My 1992 si tranny is shifting really weird. When its cold it'll grind from 1 to 2 and when it warmed up, it'll grind into fifth when I shift at about 4000 rpm. I kniow these are common problems but it also has a short shifter adaptor and I tried removing it but it felt the same. Also it is hard to get it into 1st gear when I'm at a complete stop, I'll usually have to shift into second then into first to get it to work or slam it into first. Also it feels like gears 1, 2, and 3 have two "gates" I'll feel it go into thrid and let the clutch out a bit and then it'll go in the rest of the way. I'm currently running 10-30 for tranny oil, I might swithch to gm friction moddified syncromesh but whats the deal with the notchy shift feel? Should I try installing new shift cables? I've alreadly cleaned out the shift linkages and pivots (the ones in the center console area) but it dosen't feel any smoother. My previous 94' prelude felt buttery smooth through the gears what gives?
same **** happened to mine, brand new clutch in mine from a month ago... the gear stopped like grinding but sometimes it wont go into first.. no clue why..
