Technical Exhasut Question
Hello, I figured I would ask the type-r guys because they tend to be the most knowledeable. I have a base rsx and I had my magnaflow catback installed this past saturday. I tried doing it myself but it was so cold and the bolts were being a bitch even though it is a new car. Anyways, I was looking it over and I happened to feel underneath where the rear muffler connects to the resonator pipe and noticed some air coming out. Not much, just enough to where I could feel it. So I took it back to where I got it installed and the guy, who knows his stuff, tried to tighten it more with no luck. Then we ditched the gasket that came w/ the exhaust for a better one and still no luck. Basically, my question is will this affect anything? Is it bad? I can only feel air from the bottom part of where the two connect, not the top. I have tried just about everything. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it. I know it is common knowledge that the exhaust should not leak any air and my old civic and integra never did, so I just want to know if it is harfmul or hurts performance. I really enjoy the sound and look of it, so I would guess it is not that important. Thanks again for any info.
Well it could be a problem if there is a air leak when you are driving. The hot exhaust that is flowing through the pipe picks up cold air through there and then that air condenses in the muffler and just like magic you have pool of water in the muffler.
