Default stalling car

Hey, I know how it goes around here and i haven't posted for a while but anyway... My friend is having a problem with his car. While we're driving with the accelerator down, the car just sits there like it's waiting for confirmation or something then just starts moving. He says he's asked around and the only thing left to change out is the fuel pump. It only happens at low rpms but it's in every gear. It's kind of hard to explain in words but the best i can do is..

Car is at red light.
Clutch, gear, gas.
Car revs up to about 2k and just stops revving.
Car still moves but with no power.
Car power kicks in, revs continue and we keep it moving.

Anyone understand what i'm saying or know what the potential problem could be ? Please contribute your input. I didn't exactly know how to search for a problem like this so i just posted. TIA

Oh, the car is a 4dr 5th gen manual. His guesses left are problem with the TPS or fuel pump, any other ideas ?

Not sure what you've checked yet, but here's a couple more thoughts.
Fuel Filter.
Sticky throttle body. Clean with carb cleaner.
Dirty Air Filter.
Could have faulty ignition wire, mine did this a couple months ago.
Check cap and rotor for moisture.
Make sure all plug wires are pushed down all the way.

Hope this helps...............

Yea, he checked his fuel filter, and i think he checked his cap and rotor ( i kinda forget ). I'll get in contact with him to verify what he did/didn't do. I just need some advice on what to check. Thanks Vsm, if ya get anymore ideas hit up the thread.

Could be the TPS but you can check that if you have the right tools/equip.
Could be fuel problem. YOu can check fuel pressure too with the right tools/equip.

Does it throw any error codes (CEL)? Any black smoke or anything when it happens? Smell of fuel?

I dunno if he has checked any codes, it's somewhat of a recent thing. I know when i'm in the passenger seat, i see no black smoke nor do i smell fuel. It just feels like he's letting off the gas letting the car roll, when he's actually pressing on it. It happens in the low rpms until it should reach about 3500 ( guesstimate, the tach stops going up ) and then kicks in and keeps it moving. More info later tonight, good looks on the info guys.

Ok, i talked to my friend and he said he's changed/checked everything except the fuel pump, so i guess it might come down to that.

I dunno, i had a somewhat similar problem when my timing belt needed to be changed on my old galant. My car would be very sluggish when its humid out and it would be very very slow thru the RPM range until about 3k then it would kick up and the power comes back. But again this only happens when the car is cold and not warmed up.
