Default b16 swap

i have an 89 crx si and i got a b16 the one with 170 hp jap spec, i need to know what is involved with the wiring. I was told that it is just a (plug and play), (use my crx computer and just wire the v-tec), and also (use the ecu that came with it), wich is the right answer. Please help me.

Does the engine you ordered have grey plugs? If so thats obd1.
You will need lots of wiring changes. Is the car a dx mpfi model? Thats even more wiring changes. I make custom harnesses, so please check out my signature.
Thanks, Ryan

If you have jdm b16 with 170hp then it must be a sir2 motor..Which means its obd1 and it has hydrolic tranny..
Either convert the motor to obd0 and find a pr3 or pw0 ecu and obd0 dizzy...
Your stock crx si ecu will not let the perform to its full potential..
or convert your car's wire harness to obd1 using an obd0-obd1 conversion harness..Many people by from "blown90hatch"
Also you have to add 4 wires to your existing harness for vtec..
And either trade the hydro tranny for a cable b-series tranny or get the hasport cable-hydro conversion harness..

You should have bought an sir1 motor..Would have been so much simpler..

i was told the motor is an obd0 with a cable tranny. Also that it is the motor made for my crx and not the 92 4 door 1.5 civic. The motor is actually in the 92 civic but the guy never got to finish wiring the motor. I guess he was trying to wire it himeself.

gray plugs means it's obd 1. You can get an obd0 dizzy and run a pr3/pw0 and 2 o2 sensors if you want to stay obd0.

If you want to go obd1 get a obd0 to obd1 conversion harness. Get a p30 or chipped p28 ecu, and a 4 wire o2 sensor.

Sounds like an obd1 motor with obd0 header. Use the header if you're staying obd0. Find a header with one o2 bung in the collector if you're going obd1.

IMO obd1 is better. It eliminates the two o2 sensor bs and allows you to run one o2 sensor. Obd 1 has more tuning options. it's easier to get obd 1 distributors as well. I flip a toggle switch to check codes instead of lifting up carpet...
The cons-ecu doesn't fit properly where my obd0 ecu did. Can't have passengers because they will step on the conversion harness.

I'm installing a poorman's r soon that's the reason i went obd1.

so basically it is and obd0 and all i will have to do is put the aftermarket monts on the motor and drop it in my car and just plug the motor harness in my car harness and put the b16 ecu in the car in place of the old ecu. right

Dude, read my site, trust me. Is the car mpfi? Is it a crx hf? Its not that easy bro.. dont forget about shift linkages.

If the car is obd1, wiring is needed, if its obdo, just a little wiring is needed. I sell the harness for the obd0 swap for 55 bux, and if you go obd1, email me and well talk.

If it says si, its an si. Please just read my site, it has everything. Notching the front xmember is only if you are running a 4-1 header.

I need to know if i can use the headers that i have on my stock 1.6 motor on the b16 swap. The headers are 4-2-1 stock off a 2000 single cam v-tec. Will they fit.

if you go and get a header for a 99-00 si or a dohc vtec del sol i think a 94 or a gsr they will all fit but there will be clearence issues with the ground turst me about half of my header is restricted because its crushed.hasport make's a header specifically for the swap and i hear it's a perfect fit.
