Default Comptech Race VS. AN-R

I can get both for around $500, however the comptech would be used (not a big deal). Does anyone have any numbers comparing the two, and is the ground clearance really THAT bad on the comptech? I've seen posts on the two seperately, but I'd like to hear from someone who possibly has experience with both header.

This is on my LS/VTEC crx

Thanks guys

EDIT The an-r I am referring to is the compact version w/ street collector.

I was under the assumption that with the AN-R being hand fabricated it would be just as high, if not higher quality, than the comptech.

Comptech is a service facility for IRL engines to give you an example of there standards hand fabrciated doesnt mean better quality that depends on the fabricator.

ANR did have cracking issues at one point i belive those issues have been solved

AN-R quoted me like 5-7 hp increases over DC and ITR headers....how do you think the comptech's numbers can compare to that?

ls/vtec w/ stock b16 head
81.5 mm bore 10.8:1 comp
100shot direct port
typical intake and exhaust

Both headers did well in the Great Titan Header Test.

Ok let me clear some things up, i have owned 2 ANR compact headers.
1) There were several issues with them cracking at the flange, open header ONLY, which ANR has since solved. I have been running OPEN header for 3 months now with the new ANR an it has shown ZERO issues with cracking or warping.

2) ANR is just as good as a Comptech, the comptech might have better welds, but as far as overall quality goes, ANR

3) ANR headers have made 12whp more that JDM 4-1 on several dynos i have seen on STOCK GSR motors. Although im sure they give out conservative 7-8whp "more than" numbers.

ANR is GREAT and i have it in a CRX, excellent clearance issues an great power

This is exactly what I wanted to hear. Goood info.

My main reason for staying away from the comptech is the clearance, car is lowered around 2.5 inches and in the winter up here I dont think it would work out too well.

I have a friend with a HYtech in an EF, another friedn with a JDM DC 4-1 and i had another friend with the SMSP header.

I have THE BEST CLEARANCE out of all of them. the oil pan will hit before the header will hit. Not ******* on Hytech or SMSP, clearly both are GREAT headers, but youll have to take extra steps like a skid plate to protect your investment, at least i would. Even my buddy with the JDM DC needed a skidplate. The comptech will hang VERY low as well especially in an EF.

I think the An-r will make more power and the comptech will last longer...But either is a good choice

The oil pan will hit on mine too and I run a SMSP big tube..

What do they AN-R's look like when they come, are they they the darker silver color, or are they black. In all their pictures they are a stainless color.

None of you guys are having problems with the AN-R hitting the oil pan are you? This is my initial reason for getting a new header in the first place.

Have you always ran open header? And is AN-R's rating of 7-8whp over JDM ITR 4-1 header running open header or with a full exhaust. I'm interested in an AN-R setup, but it will be on a daily driver, so I'll be using an exhaust, possibly removin the exhaust for the track.

i have an AN-R...and i LOVE the power, but....i hate to have to keep fixing it. it's broken 3 times, so far. I'm about to replace it wiht a custom RMF header, if i don't sell my car before....
