Default Headers or Exhaust?

Ok..say you could either buy headers or exhaust for a 98 EX coupe that didn't have any other performance mods (except for a cold air intake). I want to get both eventually, but I can only do one or the other right now. Any suggestions?

Also, anybody have suggestions on which companies to look for/stay away from?

Buy a HEADER and a universal muffler, then go to an exhaust shop and get custom piping!

If your eventually going to do both then it doesn't matter. Headers will yield you, in general, a few more HP. However the exhaust not only increases performance a little, but also looks good and sounds good. I'd vote for the exhaust.

but there's no use in having a good flowing header to have it strangled by a pencil-dick exhaust pipe and highly restrictive muffler.

if you get headers first, and you use your stock exhaust you won't get any more exhaust flow than you would be getting because your stock exhaust would still be restrictive.

Ites cool...I think I'm going to go with exhaust then. Any ideas about what I should be paying for say...a GReddy evolution system?
