b16 boosted or boost d16a1
Ok, This car is plenty quick with the d16a1, but I want more. I was thinking boost the d16a1 or just swap a b16 with a few turbo ready parts and boost it later. Just give me yalls opinions and the pros and cons of both. thanx

search in the Forced Induction forum on "turbo SOHC". I think you will be quite surprised with what you come up with.
You could do a lot with that little D series. The B16 swap is going to cost a lot to get it on the road. Engine, axles, mounts, ect....
With the your D16 you could rebuild it completely, sleeves, piston/rods for less than the cost of swapping in a B16. Then when you go turbo you can have way more hp reliably than a stock B16 turbo.
Basically it comes down to money for me. If you have it go with a boosted B16, otherwise boost what you got.

You'll be much happier w/ the B16. It will be worth the extra money spent. My b18b is very reliable and how many guys w/ Turbo'd D's on here run 12's and are daily driven? Only 2 that I know come to mind. Tuning is key

11s would be possible but i would have to say it will be high 11s as im in the 12.1-12.2 and im only running 10 psi on a stock gs-r
but it depends on the the driver as well
good luck and keep us posted on ur decesion

I know I have said this before. But I will say it again. B-series motors can take alot more of a beating than D-series motors. Everything about them is stronger. And this goes for a complete, bone-stock motor as well as a built motor. After all, there are certain things you just can't upgrade on a D-series motor. For instance, you will NEVER be able to make a D-series block as strong as a B-series block. Especially if you consider the Dart block (for which a D-series counterpart is not even available). And besides the motor, a B-series drivetrain features a heftier clutch, transmission, axles, etc. The bottom line: they are built to power larger, heavier cars. As a result, they can take more abuse. And nowhere is this more important than with forced-induction applications.
