Default what is the highest compression a b18b with a b16 head can take

i plan on building a b18b block with a b16 head and i need to know how much compression it can take. and i also was wondering if it is possible to turbo a high compression engine.

i would say 12ish on pump gas with good tuning.
to the 2nd part; no not really feasible

Im not to sure about the compression, sorry, But if you plan on boosting a high compression engine, be ready to buy a very good head gasket, good head studs and maybe bearings. -gabe

if you wanted to run boost on a high compression engine......try to keep it under 11:1 and have it tuned really well.

11:1 and high boost? Maybe if you run C18 or methanol...or pump gas with a big bunch of water/alcohol injection, propane, etc.

How about genuine Honda bearings?

high compression and boost need very good tuning. this is the most important factor right next to building a bulletproof engine. it can be done with money, knowledge, and patience.

do a search for 'tony the tiger' and watch his vids and read about his setup. it's insane! 11.5:1 comp, 12 psi, ITBs, AEM EMS! he runs 94 octane though.

No one is going to run 20 psi with 11:1 on 94 octane and put out decent hp/bsfc, I don't care what kind of tuning has been done. Careful tuning will no doubt help, but you'll eventually hit the wall where nothing will make further improvements short of direct injection. I'd run a single digit CR.

Auto-ignition of fuel on the compression stroke under boost is the biggest barrier with that combo unless running race gas on the street isn't a big concern.

Personally, I'd get rid of the dome and run flat/dishtops, build squish/quench, dial in pth clearance, and crank up the boost.

I wouldn't trust anything over 10:1 for a high-ish boost application. After that your starting to go into an area with diminishing returns.

Either way, your going to need to tune the holy-hell out of this engine so it doesn't blow up.

so it is possible to do about a 10 to 1 compression and turbo it and still run 97 octan if i tune it extremly well and probaly have a fuel management system and have a boost controller
