Wheel question. What to do?
Ive been lookin into various sets of wheels and just want some other opinions. The ITR wheels have seen better days due to road rash (i am third owner). Right now, Im lookin at SSR Comp wheels, Rota Grids, or Rota Battles. My problem is i spend about half the year in michigan where the roads are no where near good condition. How is the strength of the SSRs and Rotas for those who have them. Which do you guys recommend (keepin in mind that the SSRs are about 400 bucks more expensive). Or would it be cheeper to just refinish the ITR wheels?
there is a cosmetic forum, you know.
as it sounds like youre just into it for the looks, its your own personal preference. i'd bank the $$$ and just drive around on the wheels.
if youre worried about potholes and such, any of the wheels you mentioned should hold up. type C's being least favorable. dont ask me why, if you have not searched.

If the wheels are gonna get fuct up why do anything!
<--Who sees no reason for fixing what will get fuct up again.
If you want a decent set of wheels then get them and save them for better weather

the only thing im really worried about would be the wheels bending in the strain of hitting potholes and sheit. any ideas on how much is usual to get all four powdercoated?

Rota SS are plenty strong, I have them for more then a year on NYC streets with out any problems.
I have read that the SSRs are kinda weak for the street... but never seen that first hand. But I guess that's why that are for competition...
As for refinishing the stock wheels... DIY and save money sure, but your giving up an 0.5 inch to rotas and that matters when you have a 205 tire.

Prolly not, sorry. I will prolly keep em around for the winter tires.

Word! All my wheels are powdercoated brakedust-grey. It's easy to do, just put on some fresh brake pads, and then use 'em up real quick without washing the car.

I'd hate to see the pothole that bends a 15" wheel with properly inflated tires. Although, he didn't mention the wheel size. I buy cheap **** wheels, and I've only cracked one 16" cheapshit wheel, cracked near the inside of the rim. It took me forever (a month) to find it!
