That's pretty much it to my knowledge

Edit: Evaporator.

Remove the evaporator from the black evaporator box
and reattach the box to retain heat

It's underneath your glove box.

Just remove your glove box (six screws)
then you will see the box (next to the blower)

It's just about 8 screws and it will come out.

Evaporator weighs around 5-6 lbs.

You're more of a man than I. I went without AC over the summer when I was a teenager, and it sucked. I can't imagine it now with these leather seats. When my nutz start sweating, it's time for some AC...

I was wondering, what about removing power steering? The car isn't toooo heavy, and I've driven worse cars with no power steering at all. What kind of weight gains would go into that?

Once you remove the evaporator -- if you do, you'll need to connect the blower on the passenger side to the heater core directly under the center dash or you'll get misdirected air not picking up any heat.

I took out my PS and installed a looped breather. The PS pump is the heaviest piece, but I'd guestimate around 10-15lbs of savings not to mention the free HP no PS yeilds.

Sorrry for the newb quesiton, but on the PS why did you use a breather? as opposed to just looping it directly back to itself? thanks.

Without the breather you are pushing air and fluid through the rack and lines, Its similar to just removing the belt.

With the breather, it makes it alot easier to turn the wheel.

say that day was a 10 harness to turn on a 1-10 scale....1 being with power steering.....rate this breather thing....

bump for an answer to above:

rate the breather thing.....

1-10

1 being with power steering

10 being with just the belt off

where in between does the lines open with the breather fall? and what kind of store did you buy that breather at?

I think he said it was an 8 (with 1 being PS and 10 being beld removed) or something similar (ie not a noticeable difference).

What I'd like to know though is what happens if you completely remove everything? Ie bracket, pump, hose, rack, etc. How does that rate on the scale?
