VIBRATIONS!!! What mounts will make my B series more like OEM?
A friend has a 2000 Civic w/ a Type R engine. It is as smooth is silk. It uses OEM mounts.
My CRX vibrates so bad I can't hear the stereo, it sounds like the glass in the hatch is going to break. Good god the car is fast but it feels ruined.
I have a set of HASport copies (sold to me as HASports)
Are there any OEM mounts that could be fitted to calm this paint shaker down?

Which engine do you have? I think when you have a swapped vehicle, there is no way around the stiffness. Some you win, and some you lose I guess. As for my car vibrating and rattling now (Hasports) I think it is funny and actually kinda cool.
I have a GSR engine.
I spent a lot of money on an Apexi World Sport. Cut it down and fitted it to my CRX so it would be quiet. Found an airbox with a 3inch hose so it could be quiet. Ran a cast iron manifold so it would be quiet, but my mounts ruin all of that the whole car resonates. It sounds like I have a huge bass box in my trunk.

my old crx had DA mounts but u had to relocate the tranny mount which involved cutting and welding it back in place. This was back in like 99 when mount kits cost a grip. But my crx w/b16 was so ****** quiet.....it was quieter than my roommate at the times 90 crx si that was bone stock....
Damn, I just bought hasports too, but the quality is
Are your mounts like the hasport street mounts. Or back before they revised their bushing stiffness.

yea, HASport mounts are rocks compared to OEM
I've heard good thing about HCP motor mounts. I hear they try to emulate OEM more. They have a better placement in the engine bay and softer bushings. I don't know about quality, though. Anyone try them?

I have Ha sport street mounts and they dont vibrate that bad at all. Did you make all the modifications to the engine bay like you were supposed to? (ie. notch crossmember, dent driverside strut wall for pully clearance, and bang down the lip in the rear for the rear mount to clear properly) Just checking because i know some of my friends didn't "feel" like doing it at the time and now theyregret it.

if you do not like vibrations...do not get Avid mounts..i am on my second set of inserts..they are cheap at ****..............about 150 from ebay....but when people drive my B16 powered ED, they come back thinking they drove an airplane down the road...but that could just be the 4-1 header, and straight pipe exhaust
i have az race and machine (which are CNC machined like hasport but way way cheaper) the inserts are polyurathane and it's actually pretty quiet. the only time there's vibration is when i take off and it's so minimal you have to turn the stereo all the way offto hear it

Except mine is still just as loud as hasport... but I like it that way

I've got a B18C in my 89 hatchback and built my own mounts using rubber bushings.
Don't let anybody tell you that it's not possible. ANY of the mount manufacturers could build them if people like us stepped up and stopped being willing to put up with mounts that cause vibrations!!!!

You may want to give it some time. I have the HASport street mounts, when I first installed them they seemed to vibrate quite a bit. About 3,000 miles later they seemed to "settle in" and some of the vibration has gone away.
My B16'd CRX has rewelded OEM mounts filled with polyurethane using all 4 mounts and it's smooth as can be. Feels like it came that way from the factory.
I have avids as well. I got mine from a auto store here in S.D...and i don't notice the vibrations, except the minor stuff that needed to be tightened down. I have not had problems with avid....

We carry the HCP mounts and have always been using them since the mid 90's in our cars. On our turbo daily driven CRX (putting down approx 465 whp), there is no vibration what so ever but at the sametime, there is no engine movement either (I drove around with no hood while it was getting painted). With the new 1-piece cast aluminum mounts and Energy Suspension bushings (only Honda mount kit company out there that ES makes bushings for), it's a very smooth ride.

Dont listen to that. You only notch the crossmember if your exhaust header is rubbing on it, or wont clear. Yours is stock so i doubt its touching.
Im running 99 GSR tranny and rear mount and a SiR drivers mount and stock CRX from mount..
Rear tranny and front had to be re-welded, the rear was very simple just weld in the old hole and drill a new hole furtur back.
They are very soft, my car rides smooth. When i rebuilt the engine last winter i filled all the mounts with urathane now i have less wheelhop

These mounts are rocks. There were no instructions but the lip in the rear was not in the way in fact the mount came nowhere near it. I did dent the frame rail for the alt. pulley and I had to cut the front mount off because it hit the trans.
If anyone has pics of their DA mounts either mail them to me or post them here. Also if you know which mounts you used and what years that would be great!
I am VERY interested in making some smoother mounts or buying some if we can agree which ones are smooth.
I drove it 20 miles at below 3300RPM because it has a check engine light on and it may have calmed down a hair after the trip.
My buddy has a 93 Hatch with an H22 and HASport mounts and it shakes like this too.

I'm 'bout to buy a JDM GSR complete engine and drop it into my 91 CRX. Im goin to buy the transmission conversion kit from Avid to work with the hydraulic transmisson. The motor includes the mounts from the GSR, is it possible to use those mounts on my CRX?
