Default NAPA axles.....WTF???

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So i go to NAPA today to get new axles, and the guy tells me they have 3 different part numbers for my car. He tells me to take off my old ones and bring them in first to make sure they give me the right ones.

I do that, but he gives me the wrong ones and both are wrong for different reasons. The passenger axle he gave me is too large in diameter where it inputs into the tranny. The drivers axle will go into the tranny and spin the gear, but it wont go all the way in to sit flush with the tranny and it wont lock in place.

This is really frusterating, i am going back tomorrow to attempt to get the correct axles, I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem with NAPA axles

BTW these are for a 90 honda civic dx
what all different axles did EFs use???
I am pretty sure the wagons used different axles, and maybe the HF, but other than that I thought they were all the same??

Wagons may use different axles, and the HF and the STD did use different axles.

My advice is dont use napa parts. Me and my dad have had problems with them and when I used to live in Texas we had problems with napa parts and now that I live in oregon I still have problems with napa. Unfortunatly its the only auto parts store around because I live in a small town. I usually have to go to the nearest city like 70 miles away to get parts that are worth putting on my car. Also I was looking for a heater core and went to Napa, they said it was like $210 and I just ordered the cheapest one I found for $90 from someone more trustworthy.

If you have the SI/DX, i would use the pink stripes ones. The other stripes are for the HF and STD I believe.

I like my Autozone. Hey, remanafactured axles are a hit and miss. If it breaks, I can always replace it for FREE. Gotta love lifetime warranty.

I had some problems with the axles from NAPA. Made multiple trips b/c i had the right box with the wrong axle, and then one axle wouldn't bend at one joint. I also had problems with autozone with one end being too big. AND the remanufactured axles at autozone are the same exact axles as the remanufactured axles at NAPA......go figure.

I usually install NAPA axles at work, and I've had very little problems with them. They're boxed right 99% of the time and seem to hold up well.

And if you brought the old axle in to compare, how did you leave with the wrong new axles?

I always use Autozone for these type of parts, and the first time with my 88 STD, it got all screwed up because I told them DX (stupid noob mistake, I know). As long as you stick to the 3 basic types, you can't go wrong. Si/DX, STD/HF, or wagon. From my understanding the sedans use the Si/DX as well (but don't hold me to it).

I have heard very bad things regarding NAPA, as well as very good things (just not related to HONDA, unfortunately). When in doubt, use Autozone for parts, and the other guys for fluids and accessories. I learned this lesson the hard way with my Camaro years ago. This might be regional though, in Vegas (and I have heard Cali too), my personal experiences tell me that anything other than the part provided by a dealer or Autozone is crap.

AWD wagons DO, they have an intermediate shaft on the passenger side.

NAPA SUX! just got a motor mount for my engine I looked online and on their computer and matched up what was the mount I needed. Well, the part number was right on the box, but what was in the box looks like a mount for a V8 engine or something.
Never again!

DVS_SI your world is so small. Ever think I did a search and found this thread and did not look at the dates only the problem.
Can not believe people like you can downright humiliate people on this board. This is the 2nd time. Way to welcome a new member to the board.

The problem is that Napa has their parts all wrong in their system, and DIY guys like us need to beware....

You know guys there is a real world out there other than these boards. I take major offence to "You fail at life"
When in fact every single one of you who think you have to make fun of a me are the ones who still have major insecurities about yourself.
This is not Highschool
OH and BTW I have not failed in life....just so you know, I do not spend a majority of my life online....because I actually HAVE a life!
BTW just so you know when you go to google and type "NAPA SOLD ME THE WRONG ENGINE MOUNT CRX"
this thread is the first thing that pops up.

You're right it is the real world. And in the real worl if they tell you that they have multiple part number for your vehicle and that you need to bring in said part for verification and you don't take it upon yourself to do the physical verification on your end...who is actually failing at life here? It's just life brake rotors for our vehicle, so you bring it to the auto store to make sure they match using a visual inpection is needed at this point.

We are talking about 2 different things here.
I am talking about the engine mount for my car. not the axles.
Come to find out the morons that work up there put the wrong part in the right box. I got the right box but the wrong part. I even went to the warehouse to pick it up instead of waiting for it a few days.
There is only 1 part for a front engine mount

I believe you guys are getting me mixed up with the original poster.
