Default Pulling tranny right now, few questions

I'm pulling my tranny right now, and just have a couple bolts left and I'm done.

I'm replacing my clutch with an Action clutch, because my original clutch was acting up. The throw out bearing is the culprit from what I can tell, but I don't have very much experience with these things.

I was wondering if there is any way to tell if the input shaft bearing or any of the other main bearings in the tranny are ok while I have it out. I don't want to take the tranny apart and risk fawking something else up however.

My symptoms before pulling the tranny were a very stiff clutch pedal, that would click sometimes and then get soft. I tranny that wouldn't go into gear with the car on, but with it off you could put it in gear just fine. Slight whinning/grinding noise with clutch pedal out, and louder grinding noise when trying to release the clutch.

The reason I'm pretty sure it is the throw out bearing is because I could feel it in the pedal, but hopefully you guys can help me out. I will be posting pics of the tranny housing, and the TO bearing, as well as the clutch once I get them off.

Thanks for your help, and sorry so long

Edit: got the tranny off (pain in the *** by yourself with only one jack) and definately have a problem with my clutch (refer to pics). The TO bearing is definately jacked also. makes a horrible noise when you turn it

I still need my questions about checking the tranny answered however. does anybody know? When I turn the input shaft on the tranny, it makes a click noise, and then is quiet when you turn it. Just makes the click when you switch directions. This is normal I'm hoping??

Be sure to put anti-sieze on the input shaft as well as the inner portion of the release bearing that slides on the shaft.

The click you hear while turning in opposite directions is the play in the gears.
