Should I use oil squirters?? Balancing cranks?
I have a GSR block that I'm going to use. Wiseco pistons, ls rods/crank, arp rod bolts are going to be used. This will be on a daily driver with little abuse except when taken to the track. I've been reading and it seems like not many people are using oil squirters anymore. I saw the GE blockoff and they look pretty nice, looks much better than bent oil squirters to clear the ls crank. I had a ls/vtec before w/o oil squirters running itr pistons and it was fine till the day I sold the setup. Why did Honda put oil squirters in and do you guys think it's necessary?
I had a balanced ls crank before, but now I'm not sure if I should do that to the new setup. I've read that it's not too important. The Wiseco pistons are balanced, the rods shouldn't be too diferent in their weights. Is it worth the money to get the crank balanced? It costed me $125 to get it balanced a few years ago.

Well, heres my suggestion, take it for what its worth.
I wouldnt worry about the squirters, maybe if you are running oem style cast pistons, but your running forged pistons so u dont need em.
The forged pistons can tolerate more heat, and have better cooling properties than oems. The squirters are for cooling, but its not neccesary with your setup.
Also, as far as the crank getting balanced, well a machine shop here said that he quit balancing the honda cranks because everytime he did it there wasnt much to balance. He said its just not worth it.
If anything i would consider using some forged rods, but thats your call, the arp bolts should help ya out some.
And just for a reference, My own motor is an ls/vtec. No squirters, forged internals, NO balancing, (but did use block guard and z10 girdle), Just overbored, line bored, and assembled. 9,000 frequently, 9,500 a handful of times, no probs whatsoever. (crosses fingers)
