Just trying to look for a nice Christmas gift for myself and others....Seems to be a decent product without having the lug a compressor/generator to the track for us broke folks....

I have the same bleeder for my BMW 2002. Different cap design, but everything else is the same. I love it, makes bleeding brakes easy, don't need a 2nd person, and you don't need to worry about letting the master cylinder run dry. Defintely worth it!
I'm already looking to see if I can get a 2nd cap adapter for my CRX.

Now that I've figured out the magic trick to get the cap to seal, I adore mine. I did a master cylinder change on the CRX in like an hour total using this thing.
The second thread JeffS posted has a great looking upgrade for this thing to seal every time on a Honda. For me, if I can do a "dry run" (literally - no fluid, just pump it up before you start and see if it leaks) up to 10psi, I'm golden.

Please please please take note of http://www.speedbleeder.com stuff. It's one of the best spent $20. Okay so maybe they are $28 ($7 each) now.

One man bleed job in only about 5 minutes time.

I've used one of the Motive bleeders for about 3 years now. If you buy one, READ the threads above or you will HATE it. There are some tricks to get a good seal and without a good seal it's nothing but a huge mess. However, once sealed, it's a godsend for us solo mechanics.

Couldn't agree more.
If I didn't read the posts above before I used mine, I probably would have made similar mistakes and have cursed the maker.
For a solo bleed and especially full flush, it is an awesome product, just make sure to have a good seal and test it first, DRY. And then Don't over pressurize the system.
Motive has a good little product there

Thanks for the replies guys.
I think it's the lack of sunshine here in the PacWest that has caused my brain to become a rotting bag of potatoes in my head.....
I'm was staring at the picture and didn't even THINK to search under "Motive" and kept on looking for Trackhaus.....
But looks like some spending is in order!

They've worked for me in the past, but I've heard the springs can wear out over time.

Pat,
I bought a used Motive off of SCCAForums.com. I've yet to use it, but will be shortly as I have to change my master cylinder before long. If you want to try it out, let me know.
Also, if you're still looking for D16A6 rods and pistons, I have a couple sets.

I just went to Harbor Freight and bought a 2 pack of the 6" Quick Grip bar clamps to modify the setup of my Motive. It only took me about 30 seconds to set it up this way and would seal up to 20 psi without leaking on a dry test run. I was glad to pay the extra $15 to have a quick and easy setup.
Funny, I never had a need for any type of mods to the Motive setup.
Could it be more secure, yes I do agree.
Does it need to be, no I don't think so.
All I did was read a few of the older postings about it here and follow the instructions and do a dry run to insure proper sealing and then during the wet run maintain between 10-15 psi and voila, no problem and able to flush a whole system in maybe 30 minutes tops.

Yeah we had one that we used once, determined was more trouble then it was worth after that and didn't use it for about 2 years.
Then I tried it again and realized that it works great, that we probably weren't using it correctly, now we use it for everything is part of our required tools for rally and track, really makes things easier.

Good idea James. Takes some of the guesswork out of it for folks who haven't figured out the tricks to getting the stock motive to work on a Honda.

I didn't have any problems having it seal with the chain/J-bolt setup. I just wanted to reduce the chances of it leaking and it gives me peace of mind knowing there is less of a chance this way. Plus it's much faster than screwing with the J-bolts and making sure there is equal tension so that it sits flat. It took me just under 5 minutes to setup the first time I tried with the J-bolts and about 30 seconds with the Quick Grip.

Maybe someone should take the guesswork out of pissing into the wind also....
I flushed my brake fluid today, used one 1/2 liter bottle and some old vacuum tubing i found in my supplies box. Ho-hum.
