Just completed swap. Have A few questions about oil
Just dropped in a sohc ZC. She's running pretty good. 2 weeks and 518 miles, and no sign of her burning any oil. Here's the questions. 1:When should I change the oil next since this engine was probably not running for a while. 2: Would the fuel injectors that came off the new motor be better than my old ones? 3: If I swap back to my short ram intake, will it make the oil get dirty faster? I just wanted to know on that last one because I figured the k&n filter doesnt clean as good as the stock filter. Any answers to my questions would be greatly apprieciated.
for the 1st couple changes i would maybe break the time in half, just to make me feel better, even tho its probably not NEEDED. was the ZC stored with oil or without? either way i'd change after maybe 100 miles, then the next after 2000, then the regular 3000.
for the short ram, nah it wont make any significant difference. if it were one of those filters connected directly to the TB, then yeah it gets a lot warmer air in the engine, but for a short ram the air should be the same temp as a stock air box, basically.

Thanks for the fast replys! Leave the fuel injectors im already using, or use the ones that came with the motor? I was confused about that second one. I think ill change the oil tomorrow then. plus i notice that when I start the car I don't have a fast idle. The ZC that Im using came out of an automatic car. could that have something to do with it? TIA.
The engine came out of an automatic car. I am presently using the intake manifold that came with the motor and my old fuel injectors. I dont really have any drivability problems, except for a slight jerking if i dont keep my foot on the gas pedal consistantly.

I changed my oil at 500 miles. Looked pretty good. I just saw something here on H/T about aftermarket air intakes that they make the oil get dirty faster. Is that true?

I dunno, when I swapped in my B20, I changed the oil/filter at about 500 miles, and it was very black... I changed again at about another 500 miles and it was fairly clean... Same also with my tranny... But my tranny and engine sat for about a year or so, that could be it...

When I rebuilt my engine I changed the oil right after I drove it around the block. Then I think I changed it around 500 miles and then at 1xxx I changed it to synthetic. Now I changed it every 3k.
