Default windshield wiper problem... never seen anything like it before

my windshield wipers have sparatic ranges of motion. sometimes, the windshield wipers start very close to the bottom of the windshield and sometimes they start 3 inches further up. also, at the other extreme of motion, the wiper hits the edge of the windshield sometimes and other times it stops exactly where it should. i don't know why it is so random. i experimented today and found that when i'm at idle, the wipers work like stock but anything above idle, the wipers go haywire. is this some sort of relay problem or transformer problem? help me!!!

The arms are connectred to each other and the motor. Sounds like there's play on the shaft. It's a real bitch to get to it tho.

turn the wiper blades power to the off position.

place them in the right position.

tighten the bolt down that connects the arm to the motor.

turn them on to make sure they stop in the right place on the up pass.

The wiper linkage may be broken, it uses plastic bushings on the end that often wear out, making them go wild like you're describing. If you take off the cowl you can move everything around and get a better look. If any of the linkages have any play, replace it, you can't get a new bushing.
