You need to remove the plastic piece from the console, on the back of the lighter there is a nut type thing holding it there. Just take that off and the lighter comes right out. Unless you can manage a way to reach around the back and get it off w/o removing the panel.
Yea i know im an idiot. But does anyone know what head unit fits nice and snug with the pocket tray they give you with this kit?
since the search feature is down I can't find it right now, but later try search for "audio console" in this forum (EG+) and look for the thread about people posting pictures of their audio consoles, it's like 5 or more pages long with a bunch of pictures. A lot of people used it for guages but some did put radios in there. Maybe ask in there to see if someone can help you. Sorry I couldn't you the exact link but maybe once search is back up you'll be able to find it.
Damn just went through that whole thread and it seems no one was quite successful matching a OEM head unit with the pocket piece supplied.

I was really looking for OEM to give it that stockish feel. Im not really to impressed with the head units they make now a days.
Up for the people who have an answer for my Q. Could any oem head unit work in that audio console mated with the pocket tray they give you with??
Nah the question isnt if it would connect to the harness, but if it would sit flush in the hole of the audio console mated to the pocket tray.

shave the top and bottom edge of the pocket (so the aftermarket radio trim ring will fit), line up the new radio and drill 2 holes in the sides of the brackets (to mount the radio, cage wont fit so it has to be bolted in)
no problem, if you do decide to go aftermarket, take your time when your deciding what to cut. i used a bench grinder to shave the pocket cause its easy to get a straight line with it. i mounted the radio using 3 screws, 1 on each side (hence having to drill holes in the bracket) and i took the bracket off the rear of the factory radio (or did the lower console come with one???) to support the rear. drill the holes in the brackets a little larger than the screw, use a washer between the bracket and screw head, and you will be able to adjust the fit of the radio. oh, and do that first before you start shaving the pocket.
