Just bought 98 Prelude!
Whats up people? A newbie here. I just bought a 98 Prelude a few days ago. Going to be looking to do some mods. Don't know to much about imports so this will be all new to me. My other car on the other hand is a 88 Firebird Formula w/ a 383 stroker w/ a converted LT1 manifold plus other goodies. Thats what I'm used to. Any imput about what to w/ the Prelude would be very helpful. Thanks

Welcome and I know where you are at with the Firebird having had a GT350.
Do not expect the Prelude to be anything like the high torque rear-wheel-driver you are accustomed to. Our engines work at higher rpm numbers. If you plan on anything like using the car for drag-beef up everything associated with the driveline. Then again some parts won't withstand the constant abuse of that activity as compared to what I like-road racing on a track. In any case we use our Prelude (now for sale) for road trips as that is what they were designed for.
You do not say if it is modified or what your plan is. There will be many to voice ideas on this. Take your time and plan carefully. Every modification needs to fit or you will waste significant amounts of money and time. If you are into audio-have fun knowing that the stock stereo can be completely removed if you need to-but this even requires planning. Wheels and tires are a major subject around most of the boards-pick what you like and stay away from most offerings over 17" unless you live where there are no potholes. Also go for "offset" in the range of +45 for best clearance when the car is lowered, if you do that at all.
The most important thing to do at first is to buy the Helm manual for the car (www.helminc.com). The second thing is to use the search function and then ask us for added help. This board has a wealth of info.
Good luck and have a great holiday

You're off to damn good start, then, I'd say.
IMO your Prelude will not be a fast strait line car without a LOT of cash...way more than a RWD V8 would cost. But, I love the way mine handles and if you do your research and spend a bit of time with it, you can find lots of things to tweak to make it way faster than stock.
I think it's a very fun car to work on and have as a daily driver/track car, but I would not try to drag race one...and to be honest with you, the ultimate goal for mine is just to have a badass sleeper that I can surprise people with.

I would but the car is being laid up. I transfered the plates from that to the Prelude. The Formula will be back out in the spring. But if you want to stop by to check it that would cool.
