Dented header!!!
Potholes suck. Today i hit a big *** bump and put dent in my jdm itr 4-1 header. Now right before the collector it has about a 1 and a half inch dent. Is there anyway to fix a header?
Also i have been driving it and i cant really tell right now, but it kinda seems like i have lost some top end how bad do you think this is choking my motor? Forgot to add i got a dent in my oil pan.
How bad is it to run a dented oil pan?

I've never actually done this, but it seems like you could take a small section of mandrel bent tubing of the same material, diameter, thickness, and bend radius, cut out the bad section of the header, and weld the new section in. It prolly won't be perfect (since the weld penetration will upset the internal walls a little), but it will be way better than what you have.
Anyone ever tried this?
Also, I have seen motorcycle headers get fixed by slidehammering the dented area out. Basically you drill some small holes in the header, and put some small screws in them, slidehammer that screw until the shape is returned,a nd weld over the holes. I think those headers are usually thinner, so that might not be possible with a 16ga header...

Don't worry about the header, it sucks but there probably isn't much you can do... Unless you can heat it up with a torch and pull it out, like you would a dent on a car body. - As for the oil pan, make sure the oil pickup wasn't damaged, and make sure the pan isn't up against the pickup.
