Will my 98+ front bumper wobble at high speeds?
Hey guys, im new here to Honda-Tech....ive got a couple questions....Im doing a 98+ conversion on my 94 integra....I did a search, and i do know all i need is the 98 front bumper, headlights, and turn signals...I have some questions that i need to be answered though if u guys can help me....
I actually had a fiberglass front bumper *body kit* on my car, and i threw the foam away from my front bumper...
Heres the questions..
1. Will my 98+ front bumper wobble or move around at high speeds since i threw my foam support from my 94-97 away? Or should i just bolt the bumper real tight, and stick somethin in there thats kinda homemade?
2. Will all brackets, bolts, and everything else from my original 94-97 front fit when i do the 98+ conversion?
3. 98+ Front bumper, 98 headlights, 98 turn signals...Is there anything else i am missing at all that is NECESSARY to complete this conversion? Even if its a small screw to buy, will u guys let me know...Thanks

I don't have the foam on my front beam either. Nothing wrong from what I can tell. Everything is a perfect fit. Some people say you need a 98 hood. but I don't think you do.

That foam slows down the impact time in a front end collision, so it has some purpose.

Definitely try to replace the styrofoam when you do the conversion. Any styrofoam will work....just ziptie it to the bumper reinforcement bar.
Yeah, the dealer wants 100 or so for $2.00 woth of molded styrofoam.
my bumper is missing the syro and it does not wobble at all.

i don't think it will really wobble if u bolt it down well and get the bottom bolts that go onto the radiator support as well. But i would jsut go to a salvage yard and pick up one of those foam things... probably wouldn't charge you too much... plus u can get any foam from 94 up not jsut 98-01.

im not running any bumper support at all and I also have th e98 conversion; the bumper cover is just fine. Just make sure you screw down all of the holes on the top under thehood, and tighten the screws at the edge of the bumper that connect to the fender
I don't think wobbling is a problem without the styrofoam. The problem is that it's there to protect the bumper from damage in minor collisions. Suppose someone backs into you in a parking lot. With the styrofoam there, it'll absorb the shock, and your bumper will probably flex a little. Afterwards, you probably won't even be able to tell the car was hit. However, without the styrofoam there, there'll be a big void behind the bumper, and this will probably just cave in if someone hits it, effectively ruining the bumer.
I do agree about the pricing, however. Something like this should be ultra-cheap. Maybe you could use a knife and some glue and make your own from the compressed styrofoam pieces used frequently for shipping.

I don't think it will wobble either. Just make sure you have all the brackets. I did a 98 conversion on mine but during the process I realized that the 98 bumper did not have its signal brackets and the 95 ones don't fit. Where the heck would you get those brackets cheap anyways?

yeah, but it's only for collisions under 5mph. anything over that and we're screwed anyway.

My buddy who is also missing the foam has a little wobble when you flex it. But it was seen the road yet so I don't know about high speeds.
