So my 98 ITR engine died last night -- one rod bearing gone at least. At 63K miles and no track/racing use I don't know what caused it (and was driving _fairly_ sedately at the time...). No
idea how much damage there is inside but it doesn't sound good at all :-(

Anyway, is there any standard advice or ideas on the best way to get moving again? Should
I buy a used engine or not? JDM? Get it rebuiilt? (If so, can anyone recommend a good shop?) .
What should I expect to pay? Etc. Any tips at all would be much appreciated!

I'm in California, if it matters. I was happy enough with the car before (100% stock) so I'm
not reallyt after any major upgrades or power increases, unless there are things it's
just silly not to do/buy. I also don't want to do anything that poses a serious risk of emissions-related
trouble.

P.S. I'm also very open to selling the vehicle as for any reasonable price (though I'm not finding
it that easy to work out what that might be). 63K miles, original owner (clean title), no rack/race/autox/etc. In Northern California (Bay area). Mail me if

Check and see how bad it is. If its not that bad Rebulid it.. its cheaper and you know whats inside the motor....
