Default Motor problems

I have a 1992 honda civic and i am having problems with the motor. It has just begin to get back recently, what happened before, I would be driving down the highway and the rpm's would jump up and down very fast and now it will do the same thing but not just on the highway. When the rpm's jump up and down now the gauge will go all the way down to 0 but the car will still run but when you hit the gas it does accelerate tell the problem goes away and it returns to the right rpm's. PLEASE HELP ME OUT HERE
Thanks
Matt

Ok Matt, it appears that it is your ignitor inside the distributor that is actually going bad, nothing to major. Common symptom(s): RPM changing on tachometer without any engine RPM change.

By the way, next time you have a question referencing a 92-00 Civic post here - https://honda-tech.com/zeroforum?id=1

Usually when the rpms start to jump around a certain rpm, it's the ignitor

EDIT:: Dr.latino beat me to it..
