Wow, so much less on the K, and look at that torque!

Naturally the k-series larger displacement gives it a immediate advantage, nonetheless, K-series are impressive, and superior to the b-series. That b18c has more in it, its waiting to be extracted.

< Who's a die hard b-series fan, but is excited about the future of k-series.

Nice man.

The b18c has cams, a point and a half higher compression, plus numerous bolt ons and got beat by a K w/ just bolt ons. If you did the same mod list to the K, it would absolutly KILL the b18.

what was the a:f ratios of these motors after tuning? Was there tuning?

Displacement+ better head design = built b-series ownage

Also, what was the header on the b?? dc 4-1?? 2.25 collector?
You have to admit that the k20 has far superior bolt ons to the b-series, those comptech race headers make nice power on those things, coupled with that 2.5 inch exhaust u cant go wrong.

Low-mid 13's for both motors.

Tuning? Yes. The b18c had ignition, cam, and a/f tuning. My car had ignition, a/f, and the only changes on cam timing I made over the hondata "cai" flash was I advanced the cam to 50 from vtec up to 6000rpm.

It was a JDM 4-1, so I assume it's 2.5".

Despite everyone else pretty much buying the DC or Toda header(cause one is cheap and one is jdm bling ) for the rsx, I still think the Comptech piece is the one to have

Forgot to mention i wasnt sure on the tuning, i thought it was questionable because it looks like vtec wasnt touched on the b18c and it looks to me like it could be brought down from 6,500 rpm. But that should affect the overal output to any extent.

also my point about the headers, you can chalk up another 5-10 hp for the b-series motor if he was running a header comparable to yours. (but in the same respect you could chalk up more power if u were running motor work comparable to his etc)

We just sent out a computer to hondata to get checked and k-pro's. From everything ive seen it looks like top quality stuff, but we had some problems with the flash it came with, the car was running much richer than most others that were dyno'd

another thing i just noticed is the differences in the HP around the peak point.

The b-series seems to have have more hp for a longer period (rpms) before peak, and then falls off rather quickly, while the k kinda peaks, then hangs for a lil while after peak.

Also, the b18 does almost reach the same peak torque as the k20, they are just at diff points in the powerband.

It may have been able to get a little closer if the engagement was tuned, notice how the b motor is losing big time on the tq curve, then bam, all of a sudden its right up there.

The B18 is my motor. The reason VTEC is set as high as it is, is because it made more power like that. It bogged at 6000 rpm so we raised it to 6200. My header and crap *** exhaust are holding me back now. I plan to soon have a comptech race header and true 2 1/2" exhaust. But, all in all I was very pleased with numbers put down by both cars.

151 to 136 isn't close.

I know you don't believe it was tuned properly, but it was Either way, his car runs great.

that B18 is making pretty good power.

I wonder how much closer the comparison is with a b20 block? What's the CR of the K20?

yeah and its almost fully built, and the k made more power and a lot more torque with bolt ons.....its not even fair to the b series...
