Looking at getting a teg
Ok I dont know alot about Teg's and im intrested to learn more or mabe get one.
Id be looking at a GSR most likely. I dont want a Type R because insurance is a killer and i have big plans of the engine.
I was curious as to what is the best year/model of teg to get? Or they all basicly the same. What are the differences between years of the same model. ??
Thanks

Turbo, as i turbo everything i own, even thinking about doing it to the lawn mower. LOL. O crap only have 3 posts after this. LOL.
Turbo, want to make it (i dont know how to say this without sounding like a kid) go fast. Low 1/4mile times. Crazy power if i so deem nessary.
I always like to have the top of the line stuff and the GSR is only 1 step below the Type R so i figure that is a good start. I see alot of FI Type R's or GSR's, but there are also alot of LS's GS's ect. For the time being i will be driving NA because i need to save up some money for the FI setup so id like somethign uber fun to drive in the mean time and a GSR would fit the bill.
Im not an all out speed freak, i prefer railing aroud corners rather than straight line stuff. I autocross and i really like the teg, just a super sexy car. Sure there are alot of them aroudn but i like them nun the less.
I realise that it may be easier to turbo an LS or GS but since i will be NA for a bit id like to have as much as i can as soon as possable and that means a GSR. But im curious to what year is the best to get out of the GSR's?

waddup,
I got a 2000 integra gsr with 62k miles on it. black over black leather. has some minor dents. it runs good! there are no mods on the car so if u decide to buy it, it would be a dope project to start on. i need a bigger car so im gona sell it.
ill let it go for $10000
if ur interested holla.

Im quite interested but hte problem lies in how to get it from where you are to where i am. Not to mention getting it through canadian VI's and crap. Just a pain i the a$$.
If you were closer id trade ou a Mercedes Benz 300E for that car pluss mabe some cash. Or all cash, dont knwo. But its just so far away. Thanks for the offer tho, thats the kind of thing id love to pick up. The dings can be fixed, i know a guy who has a bodyshop who can help me out with that. And the price is much better than what they go for over here.
I saw one that i liked, 1995 GSR with 150,000kms, a nice kit, exhaust, intake for $13000CDN.
Id rather buy a non-modded car but that is the only local car that even caught my eye. There are more GSR's but there all newer and want insane amounts of money for them.

Well ive pretty much made up my mind on what trim level or whatever i want of teg, but im not sure of the year. Is there a significant difference between an older and new teg of the same body style? Any problems that woudl be common with older as apposed to newer? Crap i think this is my 5th post.
If anyone can help that would be great, ill keep an eye out for this thread till tomarrow i guess. Any input woudl be greatly appreciated and sorry, i tryed searching but all i got was people asking whats better for modding a GSR or Type R.

pending on ur price range id go with around a 98. just in the middle price range wise. good luck and save ur cash as much as u can as im sure you know goin turbo the right way can get pretty costly ecspecially after buying a gsr
what are u waiting for. ive had my gs-r for 2 & 1/2 yrs. they are lots of fun to work & play with. so so so many mods. very good project car, and a very cool car to have. if you are willing maintain the car on a performance level get ready to spend some money. BUT, every penny IS well worth it. so remember u gotta pay to play.
O im usto having to maintain performance cars. Perticularly old ones. I have a 1982 BMW 320i that i have turboed and man shes perfect. So much time and money. But i dont mind, so reliable and fun to drive. And over 450whp
I dont mind the matinence, im a 3rd year apprentice at mercedes benz, and my dads been a mechanic for 27 years. So tinkering with cars is something that im useto. I just need to sell/trade my current car for a GSR or equivilent. Also looking at a 4th gen lude, but there costly and the mods are no where near as plentiful as the B18 is.

Is there a specific reason you pick 97 and up? I heared there are some minor body changed from the 94-96 and 97-01 cars. Is that the only reason why you choose a 97 over say a 95? Or is there a mechanical reason.
I ask because its cheaper to get an older one on both insurance and purchasing the car.
If its meraly body differences i dotn care to much as i will be kitting the car. This is one of the only cars i actualy think a kit looks good. I like the Bomex one even though its extreme it just seems to look nice on the car. No other cars do i like kits on, i just perfer a nice lip kit.

94-01 its a mear diffrence on body style. All Visual diffrences...
For boost.... I would for sure go LS. b18b are suppose to be some of the best engines for boost in all Hondas. Due to low compression and non-vtec.
But the great ratios change within the two diffrent cars. the LS has a few taller gears. which makes it ideal for highway use for fuel reasons. first two gears are the same btw.
Only diffrence chassis wise between GS-r and LS is the front say bar. by 2mm
If you want to make the LS beat the GS-r around town, just swap out the flywheel/clutch, and put some light weight wheels on there. You will beat gs-rs all day with those simple mods. And while you are saving up for your boost work on the internals of the engine. all that really needs to be done to run 15psi is rods and pistons. The crank is good up to 9k rpm
I say go with LS due to the compression factor. There isnt a big diffrence between the GSR and LS. besides Vtec.

Id say get the 94 GSR, if youre going to have big plans for it, you can rebuild the motor(which i suggest, since youre doing turbo anyways, arias pistons, eagle rods, etc). The reason i say 94 is because its lighter, not noticeably lighter, but still, they are pretty much the same. Also the older the car, the cheaper the insurance, so you win either way. Just make sure you take some security precautions before you start doing anything to it. thieves like to ****** up their obd1 GSR's. Good luck on your GSR, make sure you post pictures up of it when you get it.
people keep saying GSR... But they have no reasons to support that concept. I believe that most people pick GSR because of the "VTEC tech." But if your creating boost under your vtec it can lead to early detenation. Yes people run vtec/turbo set-ups. Yes they are fast. But will they last as long? In my opinion no... besides you can make a 13sec car with the b18b. Its not about speed or traps... Its about quality, and getting what you paid for.
But do what you want. I just suggest looking at the FACTS... not just what people say. We can sit here and debate GSR/LS all day. But until I hear an actual reason for GSR, if I were you I would be leaning towards LS.
Remember ls has lower Compresion..... Take that and apply it to the concept of forced induction.

Its easy to get rid of high compression, like i stated, pistons and rods. He also mentioned that he wanted to rebuild the motor. Which would explain why he would do it right and do pistons and rods. 13's isnt good at all. As far as detonation goes, just have the right fuel curve and youll be straight. Its really not that hard.

the 94 and 95 gs-rs have obd-1 ecus, which basically means they are easier to modify, and they also put out slightly more hp. the 96-01 integras put out slightly less hp and are obd-II which is stricter emissions controls = hard to tune and modify ( which is why they sell obd-II to obd-I harnesses for the 96-01 teggies). The good thing about the later teggies is that they have really nice front bumpers, but then again you can always change your 94-97 teggie bumper to 98-01. Also the later model teggies have nicer leather than the earlier models.
