Please help me
I took my car to import masters to get a d16 y8 dropped in. I have an std hatch, so i went to go pick it up after it was 2 and 1/2 weeks late and it runs funny. The rpm idles between 1 and 2.5 when at a stop then 5th gear cuts out until i down shift into fourth then back to fith and finally the rev limmiter kicks in at 48 hundred rpm so my vtec doesnt work. So if any one could tell me whats wrong maybe i could take this fourm up to i. m. and school this ***** how to do an engine swap
sounds like you got ALOT of problems.
first check you engine for codes. i would think your running in limp mode since you can't rev over 4800rpms.....isn't limp 3500? tac off?
the idle surge could be the idle air control.
the 5th gear thing sounds wacko.... you need to describe that much clearer.
did you pay for the work? sue them if you did. small claims is good if you have the time.

I paid 2,400 to have them install the motor and full suspention. The fith gear does great then all of a sudden i have no throttle responce. so i down shift into fourth then back to fith and it works for awhile

Educational/General Comments
Repairing your automobile's transmission system can be a major expense. One of the easiest things to do to avoid transmission problems is to check regularly the automatic transmission fluid level. If you need to select a repair ship, keep these tips in mind. Be as specific as possible about the problem. Insist that your car be road tested before repairs begin. Make sure that the work order has a detailed, written description of the problem. Get an estimate of the repairs, including parts and labor. Ask about the guarantee or warranty covering the work. Check with the BBB for a reliability report on an individual company.
