Default 97 tach cluster

Can someone help me on the way to install a new cluster on my 97 civic. To save up some money, I tought of buying one at a nearby srapyard and then take a white backgroud on e bay and stick it on the new cluster. The reason I wanna do that is because I don't have a tach. Are the wires for the tach like ''sleeping'' behing my cluster right now?

its really simple, its just plug and play.
there are 2 little screws holding the bezle on, take those out and pull the bezle out.
there there are 4 little philips screws holding the cluster in, remove those and pull out the cluster enough to unplug the 3 wire connectors.
then to install new cluster with tach just do the steps above in reverse.

if your in vegas i will do it for you

I'm not sure about the way the tach works, it's only electronic or you have to go under the hood and put the mecanical part of the tachymeter?

if you get a ex or si cluster you dont have to go under your hood at all. You just simple remove your dx cluster with no tach and and install either of those with a tach and then your car will have a working tach. No rewiring needed

PM me if you have anymore question or help
