Default Spoon vs. Rota...

The only reason why I started this was because I wanted to know the difference b/w the two rims.. Are there any physical differences b/w the two rims that someone could tell they were fake by just looking at them?

I see you have 789 posts, right? then PLEASE do a search and you'll find ALL the info you're looking for.

This has been covered, and covered, and beaten to a pulp on this very MB. I'm no "Mr. Veteran," but I've been here long enough to have seen at LEAST 8 different topics on the "Rota vs. SPOON" bullshit.

I know pretty much all of the differences, but your search will cover that and then some.

IN BEFORE THE LOCK

Heres the main thing for say a 15" rim
Spoon = 8.5lbs and is Forged (stronger)
Rota = 12lbs and is Cast

Agreed B18C5-EH2,

Theres some pulp in that "whats the definition of rice" post isn't there?

And to think that post wasn't even really about Spoon or Rota...

Buy the Rota's, the dollar difference between them is almost 1 Grand! I know I could spend 1 Grand on alot of other stuff. Unless you are a course racer and need or want lighter wheels for that advantage.

Or you were going to order them from IPS racing then by all means buy 'em. J/K

But, seriously do a search it's out there.

Good luck,

A.

Rotas are painted, Spoons are anodized.

The Rota is a nice low-buck wheel. It serves its purpose just fine.

But hey, I drive an Si, so I'm in no place to discuss rice.

Rotas have a bright black gloss to them
Spoons have a duller (IMO) better look

you need tire shine to make them look good.....for the tires and rim

Actually, my Rotas are in flat black, unless you're saying that the Spoon's flat black is flatter than the Rota flat black, which might be a valid point--I couldn't say.

Yes this is the only difference...this summs up everything you will ever need to know about these two wheels, that pretty much ends this thread.

good point, spoonies are made in the heart of evil russia! the red menace! At any point, they'll turn on you and make your car a communist, raping the horses and riding off on the women!

One is an inexpensive lookalike with lower quality (but by no means bad quality) than the top-of-the-line original....you get what you pay for, but at the same time, you have to pay for what you get. Either is a good choice, depends what you're doing with them.
