Default SPOON SW388's and Rota Slipstreams

Besides maybe the weight of these two rims are their any ways to distinguish which rim is which? Does it say the names on the lip of the rim? SPOON has made a big name for themselves, but are you paying an extra $1000 for the rims because they are SPOONS or am i better off with saving money and getting the SLIPSTREAMS?? i wanna get rims but which ones would be worth it? Anything would help!

spooms ownz joo
I think Slipstreams are cool, i race alot and drive some harsh roads! id rather bend a Slipstream and be out 110 bucks than out close to 5 bills!
I have been pushing the Slipstreams alot also since they are cheaper and teamed up with some Falkin Azenis your Juiced!!! i know my customers have been!

well they have simalar looks, but spoon is spoon! rota's are biters. If i have the sw388 on my car i better be racing, i thought you buy these wheels to have an advantage over weight. Also when you glance at the sw388 you know its produce by spoon and just leave it that way, dont bother with the rotas or just buy something else thats cheap(nothing is cheap!) . On the other hand why would i want rims that looks simalar to another but is , you know what im trying to say. i feel sorry for the people who have the spoon sw388...kind wish you got something else huh.

Ok, to be honest I like the spoon-rota wheel. But you are talking like if your ridin on spoons that all of a sudden you have a sick 260 hp N/A car. Man get real!!!! F paying the price for real Spoons, plus they might only get you braggin rights. But on the real, who cares? Im ridin on rota C8's, and you know what?... I would never spend the money on the Mugen original. I would rather put the money into something more worthwhile, like building horsepower.
I say go with the knockoff. Funny thing is, the friggin spoon isnt even a one-off wheel, I mean really, Gee its a 5-spoke wheel. American Racing has had 5 spokes out for the past decade and a half!
Go for the look. The only people that are gonna get pissed are the assinine people who would waste the hard earned mulah on a wheel that wont yeid them any more performance than a wheel that wieghs a pound or two more.
I say F it, go for the take off!!!! And if you have real sw388's, dont get mad at me cause you spent your cash on a wheel for its name. **** I could put an R emblem on my car, its still not gonna give me any more horsepower........

Spoons are forged. Generally people who buy spoons are looking for a better than OEM, strong and lightwheel and already plan to spend a huge chunk of change. You get what you pay for.

the color or the rota's are kinda a spray painted look, where as the spoons due to being anodized kinda get weathered and a really flat black.and yea you pay for what you get,i would get some desmond evos first before i get a spoon.

Ya you can get 4 sets of Rota's for one set of spoons. Doesn't take a genius to figure out that the spoon's are not 4 times better.

Granted if your a track only car, you would want the best. But most of us drive are cars daily. Plus i'd hate for someone to jack my spoon wheels (if i had them). At least with Rota's, it wont be such a big loss.

But But But, you get bragging rights with Spoons.

Spoons are nice, I like em, however their is nothing wrong with Rotas.

Look at it this way in my pretend conversation.

Guy "Man, those are samoe phat wheels! Are they Spoon?"
You "Thanks. But they are Rota Slipstreams."
Guy "You cheap *** biter! What, to cheap to spend the extra $1500?"
You "Tell you what, you run me, and I will show you where the extra $1500 went!"

A good portion of the members on this board have owned there spoons long before Rota even concieved of making a knock off.Rota's are a decent wheel for the street but if you want something light, strong and will take some abuse then SPOON is the way to go.
Spoons have a slit in each spoke on the inside,Rotas don't,Spoons are flat black,Rotas are gloss black.
If your just a street racer or a poser then you can't go wrong with the cheappy

Are you telling us that YOU could tell the diff between running a slipstream and a spoon on track, suurre you could. You are the Poser coming on this board and pretending your hot **** with your spoons.Posting up pics of your painted side skirts and expecting people to lick your ***** GET REAL.Don't call people posers because they like something that you don't.**** I don't even have slipstreams but I think I'm going to get them now.

i just got my ROTA-MASTERS and it has the slits inside. i got mad love for the spoons but i just can't afford them right now. everybody says rotas look spray painted but they don't. they look more like painted at a body shop with mad gloss which makes it look sheap. a buddy of mines has the SW388's and it looks like it was painted with satin black krylon. that looks much better.

I'll be more then happy to meet up with you at Shannonville or Cayaga or better yet Mosport,I didn't come on here to trash you or anyone else.
The only thing I was stating was if you want to jock it with the Rotas than thats cool, alot of the guys on here have had Spoons long before Rotas were made.
Oh I probably couldn't tell the difference between the two on the track or off,but I'm sure the Spoon and Evo are alot stronger.

the spoon wheels is forged and weigh in at 3.88kg in a 15 inch wheel. By being forged the spoon wheel is lighter and stronger than the cast rota wheel.

If you consider strength and weight important when buying a wheel then get the spoons. If you consider the 'look' important when buying a wheel then get the rotas. Either way more power to you.

Here's some pics for comparison. Reall tho, the Rota's should be compared to 15" Spoon's. The 15" and 16" Spoon's are not the same. But regardless, here ya go.....

And this from a Spoon 16x7 owner.
I have a set of the 16x7 Spoons and I hope to one day be able to purchase some Slipstreams in 16x7. There's nothing wrong with Rotas.

He miguel, I'm assuming that the Spoon wheels are the wheels in the back, and the rota's are in the back...good thing they aren't prefect imitation. It would suck forgetting which is which and having to weigh....

Thats a JDMHONDAPARTS sticker. They're a company that sells parts for Hondas - especially JDM parts (clever name huh?)
