Heat problem
Ok, so my crx has no heat coming out the vents. Ive done searches but need some opinions.
Ive got the d16y8 in the car right now.
Heres a couple things..
-My temp switch is bad, so the fan is wired to be constant for the time being (fan always on).
-Upper rad hose is nice and hot, lower hose is ice cold to the touch.
-Replaced thermostat, no help.
-Bled the coolant system, got some air out. No help.
-Checked the temp valve up against the firewall, moves freely, doesnt bind up. When I push the lever towards the motor, the air in the car gets really cold, when I push it towards the firewall, the air gets luke warm. Barely heat at all.
Now, what do you think the problem could be? Could it be a bad or clogged heater core?
Could it be my water pump?
Any help would be greatly appreaciated, Im getting sick of wearing extra layers and gloves.

I'd look here first.

I think you answered it yourself.
Could but I'd look elsewhere first
No.
What does your temp gauge say?

I vote for clogged heater.
I had a warm engine, warm on both hoses, but the upper hose coming out of the heater was cold.
But the hose through it for a min, hooked back up and refilled, and walla, instant heat.

For cleaning the heater core. Do I just detach the 2 hoses going in to the firewall, and put the hose into one end?
Fire water through one end and have it flow out the other open end?
BTW, I got a new temp sensor, so the fan works normal again, still nothing.

Check to see if your heat control switch is hot or cold. It is almost straight back from the passenger side of the center console. You will want to pull the lever away from the firewall. If your temp. control **** is not working, you won't know where this lever is set at. Good luck.

Go buy a prestone radiator flush kit from Advanced Auto. The tee installs on one of the heater hoses. You get an adapter to hook a garden hose to.
Every few months, hook up the garden hose, remove your radiator cap, open the stopcock at the bottom of the radiator, turn on the water, crank your car, and let it run for a little while. When you're done, drain the water and refill with a 50/50 mix.
The first time I did it, I couldn't believe the **** that came out. I let my car run for about 1.5 hours and I was still getting muddy looking water out. I think the previous owner put Bar's Stop Leak in the radiator. I did it again about 3 months later and my coolant has been a lot cleaner since.
