Fab'ed Moroso Oil Pan
What u guys think had this done after I busted it at the front seems cuz my 4-1 Header was rubbing against it on Launches.....
Was bored at work and got a welder that my company hires to weld Alminum pretty sweet I think for 20 bucks to do and weld. Now no more rubbish and more clearance for another customer drag header??

I guess in the pic u can't tell that the rear area is lower to let some of the oil go back down. And thanks for the inspiration guys, Yeah!! great I also still have the windage tray installed also which collects usually in the middle or the center of the pan where it may slip down to the pick up.

well that would be the purpose of the forum my friend. I agree that the welds are nice, but that won't allow all the oil to flow back down into the pan though, you can't get around that hump.

Dude -
No one is commenting negatively on the quality of the workmanship dude. They are commenting on the quality of the design/idea that was employed by the welder (and I am betting he didn't come up with the design).
Now that design WILL trap oil. Any engine builder/fabricator with experience will tell you that, at the very least, they wouldn't do it. No one is "hating". it is simply a bad design idea on your part. If you are looking for propZ on creative aesthetics head over to the appearance forum because that is what matters to them.
Now - What I would do to compensate is fill that portion of the pan with water until it starts draining into the main portion of the pan. Let it level off and then measure how much water is left.
Theoretically you could add that much oil OVER and above the regular amount without adverse effect because logic would say that however much oil gets "trapped" in that corner of the pan isn't going to go anywhere so you could compensate for the loss on the other side.

Does it look purdy... sure. I guess it depends what's important to you. Performance, appearance, or getting mad propz. Are people supposed to remain silent when they see something which might ruin the engine, or just say, "Sweet!" Like it or not, the mod will limit the oil in the sump. If you ignore that fact and the engine seizes, people might even feel bad that they withheld their opinions. How would you feel hearing "I could have told you that would happen", after the engine was destroyed? May as well hear the truth up front and deal with it.

AS I stated before works great no problems on daily usage or race track so I guess looks and performance are in both this design

if your header was rubbing agaist that during launches then you have other issues.
If you really think about it the oil is always going to end up in the sump part regaurdless.. the top part just has to fill up before it starts to work it's way back... so a little extra oil and your good to go in my books.
The oil will make it's way back to the sump.. and thats all that matters, right?
