Default newbie first post..

As back ground I have a 04 srt-4, and a 94 dsm... I know dsms like the back of my hand and have come a long way w/ the srt. We just got a 91 crx.. (gf's car)I dont really know much about hondas..
The crx has
JDM b16 w/ JDM lsd tranny, dc header, intake, 2.25 skunk 2 exaust, feels ecu, konis, ground controlls, motegi track lights, etc. I love the car its fun to drive!! It needs something..
My question is
What is better n/a or forced in. If it were mine I would get fmu, missing link, and all the goodies and be done with it.. but its my gf's car! It needs to be reliable. she wants to race it and she doesnt need anything more than 13s.. cams, milled head and intake manifold should get me there but I would like some input from people who know what their talking about... I allready have like 3 pair of slicks so were covered there!

A properly driven, good condition B16A in a CRX can hit close to 14 flat. This is with a good driver of course. Average is mid 14s.

If you want more power look into the "LS/VTEC." Which is basically taking that B16 DOHC VTEC head and mating it with the larger B18A/B block from an Integra LS. Hence LS/VTEC. It'll pump up the torque and actually make the engine useful below 4000RPM (something that you probably miss from your "big" DSM engine). That should drop you down to mid-high 13s or 14 flat easy.

Search for LS/VTEC and you'll find a wealth of information. Dangers in this kind of swap is that the B16A head has a much higher RPM capability than the B18A/B. You rev up to 9200RPM in with the stock LS block a couple times that thing's gonna blow up. You'll need to rebuild the block a bit in order to have a consistant weekend drag car. That or just don't push past 7200RPM. That kinda defeats the B16 head which has all its fun from 5000-8500.

Just search it up, everything upon everything has been covered here. I think LS/VTEC may be an awesome option for you. Although since you work on DSMs, it's pretty popular for people to use the turbos from them on Civic/CRXs. In fact a lot of places make the exhaust mani w/ DSM turbo flange. LS/VTEC Turbo would kill. But it's a lot of work.

Mainly search

would the drivability go to **** by shaving the head, getting intake manifold, and like stage 1 or 2 cams...
4g63s take cams pretty well. curious how da b16 would.

I was an All Motor guy for a long time but, have transitioned to the dark side and I love it. You can get a "DIY/Junkyard" turbo setup fairly cheap by piecing it togehter. Run low boost for her to daily drive and then have a sepertae tune to up the boost when you run it at the track. The stock longblocks do very well when properly tuned(check sig) and they love the boost. Good luck and welcome

EDIT: Sell me a set of slicks since you have 3 sets

Yes, but get a turbo that is externally gated. There are many used t3/to4e's floating around.
