"A modern Shelby GT350R"
I was reading through my copy of Grassroots Motorsports (Dec. 04) and I came across their list of "Top 20 Cars from the Past Twenty Years" and one of them (without much surprise) was the Acura Integra Type R. What was surprising was their short description that followed
"A Modern Shelby GT350R"
I was hoping for an actual comparison but none was given. I just thought that this had to be one of the best compliments Ive heard about the R and thought I would share it with you owners... (im not an owner myself)

my first car was a 65 stang convertible...man do i still miss it a lot-but i had to sacrifice and it was sold for my 01 ITR. i think it should be mentioned that the shelbys now command serious money, and i still cannot for the life of me, understand how some people still dont think(or unwilling to admit) that the itr is going to be in the same status of a highly prized and highly collected automobile.
i predict just like in collecting these early shelbys, that the die hard itr owners of tomorrow will be as cut-throat in the collectibilty and provenance game as far as matching numbers, correct oem parts and even factory options. its all a matter of time, and i'm sure most of you folks here who are now DC2 ITR experts will be the forerunners of setting the standards.

I know what you mean. Still a great magazine, though.
Grassroots Motorsports is the only motoring magazine I still receive.
Nobody else seems to "get it" the way they do.
(Magazine subscription is free with NASA membership, by the way.)

Carrol Shelby took a simple car and recreated it to be a purpose built race car. Once that car hit the tracks it dominated hard, so much that other companies had to re-think their current designs to keep up.
I know it's a very simple description, but in the fewest amount of words that's the best I could do.

Everything about it was just So right. kinda like how the R is just balanced in all the fields- so was this car.
