Interior Removal
I need your help. I am about to get my car painted and I'm going to do a color change. I am a little worried on how long it will take to remove / install the interior. I will be removing everything except the dash.
Any other tips on this process are greatly appreciated
Thanks,
Dave

I put a carpet in an 03 3.2TL today, took an hour and a half total. You're taking more of the car out, but you have less stuff, so I'd say 1.5 to take it out, 2 to put it in.

no. the seam sealer/sound deadener only needs to be removed for welding body seams - (theres no way its a weight reduction.. 2lbs? take a **** before you race if its that big a concern)
LOL i should add this to the "you know you're an EF'er if" post.
I removed my entire interior, aside from the dash, in under 15 minutes.
edit: and i was being careful

I've seen the tar just painted over very often, doesn't look bad. Its quite a hassle to take out too...took me an hour and mine was coming up in nice chunks. On the next car I do I will most likely just paint over it.

Peoplle say there is stuff underneath the carpet like tar.
Do I need to remove that before sending it in to be painted? </TD></TR></TABLE>

These cars are already really loud on the inside but if you insist on removing the floor tar this article has a little something on it.

Squeeks, rattles and water leaks might get irritating too, but that never stopped anyone from loving their car.
Hype Rs don't have the sound deadening, and you can hear every little thing in the motor. Leave it in or take it out, it doesn't really matter.
