Do you mean "d16y8" not "d18y8"? If so it should already have vtec.

perhaps they swapped a D16Y8 into the 94 coupe and dont have the vtec wired up. if this is the case, SEARCH on how to do it. it has been covered before.

The D16Y8 didn't even come in those cars. They started that motor up in 1996.

On that block, that 6 looks alot like an 8 when its covered in dust. First time I saw it I was like HuH?? but yea its d16y8. You're going to have to do wiring for the vtec. It has been covered, should be an easy search. Check to make sure you have the ECU for the engine... P2P I believe is the designation, otherwise you need it.

Are you sure he doesn't have a d16z6? I'd take a look at his block and make sure. BTW you can't really hear or feel vtec on a stock d-series...

Very true. However, with a decent shortram like Weapon R or AEM, when you hit vtec in 2nd at wide open throttle it sounds like your engine is gona blow up or something. It's just pure, unadulterated evil :D
