It all started when I couldnt pass the referee

Today I passed woohoo Pretty happen when I got out of the referee station considering I failed the first test cause they let my car sit for like 30 mins so they did it again cause they agreed it was probably cold. Anyways I passed so Im driving to the court house from the ref on the toll road. Get off and I get to the court house. Sitting in court waiting my turn 20 kids go up all with ref tickets they all are fined 320. Im sitting there like wtf. FInally I get called up. Judge asks do you have proof of correction. I say ya hand him my BAR papers and he says good. Then he says im dismissing the charges for the loud exhaust!@!@@@ wtf. And you owe 325 for illegal smog plus 10 for the court. So I asked why when I just spent so much money on fixing my car and putting it back to stock and I went to the ref station and it passed. He said cause how do I know if your car was legal then!? wtf he says guilty or not guilty Im like wtf. Not guilty.

I had a drag stage 1 turbo on my car and the cop took pictures but im not about to pay 325 cause I jsut payed like over 1000. I can jsut say its a greddy kit. I know he has pictures of the RC injectors but I dont care at least I can get it down to a lower price.

That's Cali for you bro. It's gotten worse over the years.

Best way to steer clear of any tickets... stay legit. But if you have the time and the $$, I say more power to ya.

so ironic how the whole "modifying imports" started out there, yet you guys have it the toughest when it comes to legality of modifications and penalties for not staying within the legal boundaries.

i would never ever live in cali. guranteed.. im in miami and we dont have any emissions laws i rev cops with my loud *** exhaust and my buddy used to rev cops with his open header while he was waiting for his exhaust. they cant do a damn thing! move here!

one of the main reasons why many people have been building full race cars for track purposes and a daily beater for around town. Thats one of the main reasons why I'm not looking to moving back to the bay area in January. I guess my n1 might be up for sale during that time and my jdm itr exhaust will have to go back on my car...

 

Only advice I can give people is to get extensions on the tickets.

When I got sent to the ref, my ticket also said the fine would be $343 WITH correction. Well, I had spent a bunch of time gathering info to try to fight it, multiple trips to part manufacturers and the ref. Ended up extending the court date 2 times. When I finally went, the cop didn't show, ticket thrown out, didn't pay a dime to the court, and didn't even have to get cleared at the ref

It may not always work, but I plan on doing it again if I ever get another ref ticket
