Default b18c5 head for sale: slightly damaged, cheap, headshop's dream!

i'm tired of dead beat ebay 'buyers.' first $200 + shipping buys the head!

my ebay ad:
Slightly damaged head from an Acura Integra Type R. This B18C5 head has 2 hairline cracks in the #3 cylinder due to an overtorqued spark plug. The head has approximately 68k miles and is in excellent shape otherwise.

A good machine/head shop should be able to grind out the damaged portion of the head and weld in new aluminum to repair the head. Please check with your head shop for an estimate of the repair; I was told $200-300.

The hairline cracks extend from the sparkplug threading around to the edge of the valve seat. The valve seat does NOT have a crack. The cracks are approximately 1/8" in length. The cracks are in between the red lines in the pictures (hard to see because they are very small).

As shown in the pictures, the air passage above the valve seat was scratched during dissasembly. There are NO deep gouges so it should be easily clean up with a valve job.

Included with the head: all cam caps and holders, all bolts (including head bolts), and valve seals.

The valvetrain is NOT included.

This head would make a great performance project - port & polish, oversized valves, multi-angle valve job, milled for greater compression, etc. I could ship this directly to your head shop for the repair and performance work! This way the 1st time you see your new head, it will be fully worked and ready to install on your race motor!!!

I have listed the shipping as costing $50. A cylinder head is a delicate piece of the motor so I would like to take it to a professional shipping store (UPS store, Popcorn Packers, FedEx store, etc.). I will ship cheaper at your request. I do prefer local pickup to shipping. If it turns out my estimated shipping fee is grossly over the actual fee, I will send you a refund for the difference. No shipping fee for local pickup.

Just a quick question, won't the machine shop costs far outweigh the savings on this?

exactly, the damage is so minor that the repair shouldn't cost much. i'm certain buying this head, fixing it, and then getting it built will cost far less than buying a new/used head and working it. plus, this is a bare head ready to go. i can ship to the headshop of your choice or meet anyone with $200 within a few miles of central nj.

Someone who owns a shop or has access/ability to fix this on their own would be coming out of this in a good position....
