Default Oil rings? Vavle Seals? Something else???

here is basic info:
-2000 B16A2
-CTR intake cam
-straight pipe
-35k
-chipped p28

losing about a quart of oil every week and a half. no VISIBLE leaks. car is smoking, but i think its from running very rich. if i drive normal you dont see a lot of smoke, but if i punch it WOT @ 3k+ rpm's you see it pumping smoke like crazy....looks greyish and WHITISH sometimes. thats weird.

the car also idles really bad when warming up (the previous owner told me its because of the CTR intake cam, but i doubt that is the culprit)...it feels like its going to stall and fluctuates from 900-400 until it warms up a little.

gas mileage is horrible....half a tank of gas lasts me a day or two. 40 mile commute daily.

compression test (cold):
208-205-205-205

spark plugs look ok, but have a build up of carbon deposit on them.

searched up and down, and so far have this info:
-pull off intake mani and see if there is oil build up=valve seals
-do a leak down to see if its the rings

i read a couple of articles on changing the rings and it just seems out of my range to do it....i probably would do more damage than good. any advice or guidance would be appreciated to figuring out my oil consumption problem.

Do all your plugs look the same? How old are your plugs? I had similar problems with my B16A. Compression and leakdown test where coming up good and I had just replaced the valve seal. Turned out I scared one of the cylinders near the bottom of the bore. It explained why it was showing good compression and leakdown and still used 1 quart of oil a week. It got so bad, it just fouled the plug out and ran on three cylinders.

Not saying this is your problem, but just my experience with a similar situation. Good luck.

thanks....2 plugs were fine and the 2 has a lot of carbon deposit (im guessing from running rich).

my friend that did the test, told me that running rich can burn oil since it thins it out off the cylinder walls.

my straight pipe shouldnt be consuming soo much oil, so i doubt thats the problem.

you should check compression @ operating temperature. then tell us the results.

wouldnt that "theoretically" bump up the compression numbers?

the car was parked for an hour and a half before the test we did....

I'd do a leakdown test and let us know how that looks.
