Default Oil changes

I did a search and read up on most relevant info that I could find. I was wondering what the general consensus (SP?) on how often to change the oil is. I have been changing the oil every 3000 miles. I haven't run it at any tracks yet, but I do drive it pretty hard. Am I just wasting my money? Thanks.

3000miles

I change every 1300miles, but I use regular oil. nice and cheap, at the track, I would stick with Mobil one.

I change mine every 3k, and I use synthetic....I think honda recomends a change every 4k, but I am sure that is for normal drivers....

actually i think their recommendation is 7000 miles for a change,
Really? And who is "their"? The troll gods?

btw 3k is pretty much the standard everywhere.

Thanks all, I was just curious, after my search I had found that some people only change it when recommended, at 3750, others wait until 5000, I'm glad I went with my gut.... 3000

I do it at 3750 because that fits nicely with all the other service intervals (7500, 15K, etc).

realistically most people keep it at 3000, but going to 4000 is not bad.

Um.. When you buy an ITR the little manual that has all the specifications will tell you that the recommended oil change interval IS 7000. Also if you buy one with close to 0 miles on it, when you get to 7k miles the maintanence req. lights comes on tell the owner that it's time for a tune! This is the truth for the 00 itr. Since I've never owned an older one it may not be the case there.

so there!

you'll know when the time is right, the car will start telling you. When you check your oil while getting gas, you'll notice the oil has gotten darker in color...also you'll find yourself getting gas more frequently.

for a type R, if you go crazy with the revving, you may want to consider changing at 3000.

regular oil is fine I dont believe in the synthetic stuff being enough to warrant a price change of 3 times more.
wow what a smart omment........no one goes to 7000 miles, ur a ******* dumb ***, I bet u dont even chang ur own oil..

i change my oil every 3333 miles. thus, my oil change schedule is quite easy to remember: 3333, 6666, 9999, 13333, 16666, 19999, 23333, etc.
